Sheephaven View Downings - a charming 3 bedroom holiday home located on the Atlantic Drive 2km from the village of Downings. The cottage is situated on an elevated site, giving it views over Sheephaven Bay and the surrounding countryside. It is ideally situated to explore one of Donegal's - and Ireland's - most beautiful regions.
The cottage is ideally located to tour the wonderful scenery of north Donegal. On your doorstep you have the renowned Atlantic Drive. This is a scenic drive starting in Downings and continuing around the spectacular Rosguil Peninsula. In the locality you also have the lovely Lough Salt Drive.
A little further afield you have beautiful and varied coastal landscapes in such areas as Bloody Foreland, Horn Head, the Rosses and the Fanad Peninsula - the latter now a short drive away via the new Mulroy Bridge. Moving inland you have the majestic and unspoilt Donegal Highlands where the magnificent Glenveagh National Park is located. The Rathmullan to Buncrana car ferry service opens up the Inishowen Peninsula for touring.
The natural landscape of the Rosguil Peninsula provides the basis for many of the activities that the visitor can enjoy. The peninsula has an abundance of golden sandy beaches including the famous “Tra na Rossan” beach which is a 5-minute drive from the cottage. Unsurprisingly there are many water-based activities in the Downings/Carrigart area to enjoy - including windsurfing, deep sea diving, sea angling and boat charters. There is also horse riding, tennis and hill walking. Within a short drive of the cottage is the scenic Ards Forest Park.
For the golf enthusiast the cottage offers a superb base to play some of the great links courses of North Donegal. A 5 minute drive brings you to two superb championship golf links at Rosapenna - Sandy Hills Course and the Old Tom Morris Course. In nearby Carrigart the existing St Patrick's Course is being redesigned by Jack Nicklaus. Within half an hours drive there are two more excellent courses – Portsalon and Dunfanaghy. The Rathmullan to Buncrana car ferry service brings the magnificent courses in Ballyliffin within easier reach.
Sheephaven View is located in a peaceful and quite area - but is only 2km from Downings. The village of Downings itself is a popular and lively holiday destination with a number of fine traditional pubs and a variety of restaurants. So whether you prefer a peaceful and relaxing holiday - or a more lively activity based break - Sheephaven View is your ideal base.

I travel a lot so I'm always looking for interesting places to stay - anything to avoid another carbon copy hotel - and this has got to be one of the best local travel sites I've seen. Plenty of detail, tons of photos, excellent location info and clear pricing - everything I need to make an informed call. Great job and I'll be recommending the site to anyone else I know who's travelling in Donegal.
