Nos. 1 and 2 Sandy Hills Cottages, Downings

Sandy Hills Cottages, which overlook Rosapenna Golf Resort Pavilion and Sandy Hills golf course, have uninterrupted views over Tramore Beach which is just a few minutes stroll away. This area provides an ideal space for making the most of the scenery and landscape. It also provides a safe and enclosed space for children to play right outside the house. Outdoor dining set provided.

Rosapenna Golf Club

Less than 100m from the cottages you have the fabulous Rosapenna Golf Club and Downings Blue Flag Beach. The Rosapenna Golf Club is now home to two of the finest courses to be found in Ireland– The Old Tom Morris Links and the new Sandy Hill Links.  Both courses offer the golfer unparalleled views of  Sheephaven and Mulroy bays and the highlands of Donegal. With the new Mulroy Bridge near Carrigart, the superb Portsalon Golf Links is now just 20 km from Rosapenna. The fine links at Dunfanaghy is a similar distance to the west.

Blue Flag Beach

The cottages are about halfway between the Blue Flag Downings Beach and the expansive Tramore Strand that skirts the Rosapenna Golf Links. Downings beach is popular for watersports of all kinds and now hosts a summer surf school. A charter boat operates from Downings harbour and provides opportunities for sea angling and sightseeing.

Proximity to Downings & Carrigart Villages

The cottages are just 10 minutes walk to the centre of Downings village across the beach or via the footpath, whilst Carrigart Village is 2km away. Facilities in Downings include the modern Magherabeg Leisure Centre which is open all year and includes an indoor swimming pool, sauna and gym. Carrigart hosts an equestrian centre and the Mevagh Dive Centre as well as extremely well stocked conveniences stores, gift shops and a newly opened artisan bakery. 

Rosguill Peninsula

Downings is situated on the Wild Atlantic Way. With the opening of the Mulroy Bridge the holiday homes are now centrally placed to explore three of the most dramatic peninsulas in Ireland – Fanad, Rosguill and Horn Head. The famous Atlantic Drive around the Rosguill Peninsula actually starts a short distance from the cottages. The magnificent Glenveagh National Park is just 25km south-west of Rosapenna. Glenveagh encompasses some 16,000 acres in the heart of the Derryveagh Mountains. This vast wilderness is filled with many different varieties of wildlife including a herd of red deer and golden eagles. Within the park, there is a visitor centre, Glenveagh Castle and gardens.

Sandy Hills Cottages are an ideal holiday base for the keen golfer, for the beach and watersports enthusiast, for those who simply want to have beach walks on their doorstep and for the visitor who enjoys touring the dramatic scenery of North West Donegal.

There is ample soft seating for family /groups seating in the living room looking out across Sheephaven Bay.

There are also uninterrupted views over Tramore Beach which is just a few minutes stroll away. This area provides an ideal space for making the most of the scenery and landscape. It also provides a safe and enclosed space for children to play right outside the house. Outdoor dining set provided.

Booking Details

Booking deposit of €200 per week

Balance to be paid six weeks prior to the letting period

Check in 4pm, check out 10am

€200 Damage Deposit on arrival.
