9 Harbourside - Downings

No 9 Harbourside is a modern 4 bedroom holiday home located in the popular holiday resort of Downings in North Donegal. Located in a quiet small private development just above Downings Harbour, this beautiful self catering property enjoys uninterrupted views over Sheephaven Bay– views that stretch from the headland at Rosapenna, along the sand dunes of Tramore and right round to the Forest Park at Ards, with Muckish mountain as an imposing backdrop.

Not only has this holiday home a wonderfully scenic location, it is also the ideal base for a holiday in Downings. From the front door it is less than 100 metres to the harbour, 200 metres to the beach, 400 metres to the renowned Harbour Bar, 1km to the village centre and 1.5km to the two superb championship golf courses at Rosapenna. A two minute stroll from the holiday home takes you to McNutts Craft & Gift Shop as well as McNutt Coffee Shop. You could easily park your car up and leave it untouched for the length of your stay!

No 9 Harbourside has been carefully designed to make maximum use of natural sunlight - and to enable the visitor to enjoy the stunning vista outside. The holiday home is beautifully furnished and decorated throughout with all rooms to the front enjoying sea views. A particular attraction is the conservatory style dining hall which is overlooked by a small minstrel gallery.

Downings - A Popular Beach and Golf Resort

Downings itself is a vibrant seaside resort with a good choice of restaurants, friendly traditional pubs, craft shops and art galleries. It has an abundance of amenities for the visitor. The local beach is a mecca for water sports enthusiasts – swimmers, wind surfers and kite surfers. For those who like their beaches a little quieter there is plenty more to chose from on the Rosguill Peninsula, including Melmore, Tra na Rossan and the wonderful Tramore Strand at nearby Rosapenna.

Rosapenna is the location of two superb championship golf links  - The Sandy Hills Course and the Old Tom Morris course. There is also a pitch and putt course and driving range at this top class golf resort. Other facilities in Downings  include the modern Magherabeg Leisure Centre. This centre is open all year and includes an indoor swimming pool, sauna and gym. Nearby Carrigart has an equestrian centre and the Mevagh Dive Centre.

Ideal tour Base for North Donegal

No 9 Harbourside is ideally located to tour the wonderful scenery of North Donegal. Literally on your doorstep you have the renowned Atlantic Drive. This is a scenic drive starting in Downings and continuing around the rugged Rosguil Peninsula.

The holiday home is also within easy driving distance of two more of Irelands most beautiful Peninsulas – Fanad and Horn Head.  Heading towards Horn Head the visitor will pass the majestic Ards Forest Park, the Creeslough Lakes, Muckish Mountain and the popular beach resorts of Marble Hill, Portnablagh and Dunfanaghy. In the Fanad direction you have the dramatic Fanad Head Lighthouse, the Knockalla Coast Road and the holiday resorts of Portsalon and Rathmullan. All three peninsulas are ideal walking terrain. Glenveagh National Park is less than 1 hours drive away.

The bright living area features a large window which offer superb uninterrupted views over Sheephaven Bay towards the sand dunes of Tramore and the hills of north Donegal. From the comfort of your armchair you can just sit and watch this beautiful landscape. The area is furnished with an electric fire, a flat screen tv. The occasional tables, lamps and wall pictures help create the perfect ambience for relaxation.

  Kitchen

The beautifully crafted kitchen features stylish fitted units and modern appliances including dishwasher, microwave, electric oven and hobs and fridge/freezer. The adjacent conservatory style dining area helps flood the kitchen with natural light. A washing machine is located in the adjacent utility room.

  Dining Area

The holiday home has a  conservatory-style dining hall with floor to ceiling windows providing panoramic sea views. The area is furnished with a table and 6 chairs and has open access to the adjacent kitchen. The dining area also opens out to a front paved patio area.

A small minstrel gallery overlooks the dining hall and is furnished with two chairs - a quiet relaxing area away from the TV !
