Bay View - Downings

This luxury modern home is situated about 4 mins. drive from the popular seaside village of Downings along the famous Atlantic Drive and enjoys truly spectacular views over Mulroy Bay to the gently rolling hills beyond.

This well equipped modern house was designed to take full advantage of the natural beauty of its surroundings with its large windows and conservatory ensuring a view from every room.

The spacious ground floor is open plan with a fitted kitchen, breakfast bar and a comfortable seating area with a stone fireplace. A large table in the conservatory seats 8 people. Upstairs features a small gallery area with an extra sofa bed.

Local Activities

The Downings area is renowned for its beautiful and secluded beaches(Tramore,Tra na rossan,Melmore) fishing trips from the working harbour, water sport activities including diving(Mevagh Diving Centre), windsurfing and canoing with Jaws Watersort and Gartan Outdoor Centre and the 18 hole Rosapenna links golf course with a Pitch and Put opposite. You can also find some lovely traditional pubs with a lively music scene all year round. In fact, one of them The Thatche Pub is just 5 min. walk from the house.Magherabeg Leisure Centre is a goo alternative to rainy ays with swimming pool,sauna and staemroom. Beside it is Kidz kingdom a soft play area with a cafe.

Surrounding Area

Further in the area you will find the majestic Glenveagh National Park where you can spend the day in the castle or walking the gardens  - perhaps you might even spot one of the eagles recently introduced to the hillside landscape. Hillwalkers can challenge themselves on Muckish and Errigal Mountains and be rewarded with stunning views of the rugged north Donegal coastline.Take a boot to Tory or Arranmore Island to see what island life is about or watch the birds and seals.From the lovely village of Glen take a drive to Lough Salt and stop on the way back at Doe Castle. Ards Forest with its play area,cafe and beachwalk and Dunlewy Visitor Centre are ideal for kids.

The Downings area has some of the finest beaches in Co. Donegal and Tra na rossan Strand is typical of these. Downings Bay itself has an active fishing fleet and is a favourite spot for water sport enthusiasts.
