Glenoory Bay Cottage is a traditional holiday cottage with a wonderful setting along the Alantic Drive on the Rosguill Peninsula. The cottage nestles into a heather clad hillside and overlooks Glennoory Bay - an unspoilt horeshoe shaped bay with a lovely secluded beach.
This picture postcard setting is enhanced by the presence of a whitewashed homestead and barn to the rear of the cottage which - together with the hillside - provides a sheltered courtyard. The stone work on the front of the cottage blends almost seamlessly into the local landscape.
The Rosguill Peninsula itself is a beautiful peninsula extending north from Carrigart and Downings and ending in the dramatic Melmore Head. To the west of the Peninsula is Sheephaven Bay, to the east is Mulroy Bay and to the north is the Atlantic Ocean. The small roads around the peninsula offer magnificent sea and mountain views and provide ideal walking and cycling terrain. There are also numerous secluded beaches dotted around the rugged coastline - the renowned Tra na Rossan is just over 1km from the holiday cottage.
Glenoory Bay Cottage is located 5km form the holiday resort of Downings. This popular seaside village has a wonderful beach and a small working harbour. It is a poular centre for beach and water based activities including swimming, diving, windsurfing, sailing and sea angling. The village is also well served with hotels, restaurants and pubs. Just outside Downings is the superb Rosapenna Golf Resort featuring 2 championship golf links - the Old Tom Morris Course and the Sandy Hills Course. These courses overlook the golden sands of Tramore beach and Sheephaven Bay.
Glenoory Bay Cottage is ideally located to explore 3 of the most beautiful peninsulas in Ireland - Rosguill, Fanad and Horn Head. The new Mulroy Bridge near Carrigart means that the Fanad Peninsula is just over 10 km from the holiday cottage. The cottage is 30km from Glenveagh National Park. This magnificent park has over 16,000 hectares of mountains, lakes, glens and woods, with a herd of red deer and the recently reintroduced Golden Eagle.
Glenoory Bay cottage offers the visitor an opportunity to escape from the pressures of modern day life and relax in a truly tranquil and beautiful setting. Whether you want to enjoy the great outdoors or simply want to unwind and relax this charming cottage provides the ideal holiday base.
The cosy living room of this traditional cottage enjoys lovely sea views. The open fireplace provides a warm focal point. Like many old Irish cottages there is a small bedroom of the living room
The holiday home has a bright modern galley style kitchen with all appliances close at hand - including gas oven and hob, microwave and fridge freezer. The kitchem sink window looks out on a scene that has changed little over the last 100 years - a traditional whitewashed cottage and barn nestled into a heather clad hill
The galley style kitchen opens out to a spacious dining rooom. The dining room features a sturdy table and 6 chairs and enjoys views over Glenoory Bay.

I travel a lot so I'm always looking for interesting places to stay - anything to avoid another carbon copy hotel - and this has got to be one of the best local travel sites I've seen. Plenty of detail, tons of photos, excellent location info and clear pricing - everything I need to make an informed call. Great job and I'll be recommending the site to anyone else I know who's travelling in Donegal.
