Mulroy Drive Cottage - Carrigart

Mulroy Drive Cottage is a modern holiday home situated on an elevated site with panoramic views over Mulroy Bay towards the hills of the Fanad Peninsula.  It is located between the coastal villages of Carrigart and Cranford and lies just off the Mulroy Drive. This scenic drive around Mulroy Bay was the first official extension to Irelands Wild Atlantic Way.

The holiday cottage is centrally located to explore three of Donegals  - and Irelands  - most beautiful Peninsulas. Immediately to the north is the ruggedly beautiful Rosguill Peninsula . A 5 minute drive from the front door brings you to the Mulroy Bridge which is the gateway to the Fanad Peninsula.  To the north west lies the dramatic Horn Head Peninsula.

A Warm and Inviting Cottage

The cottage itself  is warm and inviting. The living area is tastefully furnished and decorated and features a large 46inch flatscreen tv. Double glass doors lead out to a furnished decking area with views of Mulroy Bay. There is a double sided solid fuel stove. The main cottage bedroom benefits from this.

This ground floor bedroom has a super king sized bed and also enjoys sea views.  Additional accommodation is provided in the cottage loft which has 2 single beds - this is suitable for children and more agile adults. Back on the ground floor there is a shower room with a constant supply of hot water. The stylish cottage kitchen is fully equipped for a self catering holiday - the kitchen sink window has views towards Mulroy Bay,

A Tranquil Base to Explore North Donegal

The cottage is within easy driving distance of 2 of Donegals most popular coastal resorts - the seaside village of Carrigart and the beach and golf resort of Downings.  The quaint village of Carrigart has a range of amenities including shops, pubs, hotel and craft shop.  It has a PAIDI approved Dive Centre and a number of equestrian centers in its environs. Outside Carrigart is the tiny village of Glen and the beautiful Glen Lough. This is the location of the Olde Glen Bar - a renowned pub and restaurant.

Between Carrigart and Downings is the superb Rosapenna Golf Resort featuring 2 championship golf links - the Old Tom Morris Course and the Sandy Hills Course. These courses overlook the golden sands of Tramore beach and Sheephaven Bay. Downings has a wonderful beach and a small working harbour. It is a popular centre for beach and water based activities including swimming, diving, windsurfing, sailing and sea angling. The village is also well served with hotels, restaurants and pubs and has an indoor leisure centre.

The Rosguill, Fanad and Horn Head Peninsulas

The Rosguill Peninsula itself is a beautiful peninsula extending north from Carrigart and Downings and ending in the dramatic  Melmore Head.  To the west of the Peninsula is Sheephaven Bay, to the east is Mulroy Bay and to the north is the Atlantic Ocean. The small roads around the peninsula offer magnificent sea and mountain views and provide ideal walking and cycling terrain. There are also numerous secluded beaches dotted around the rugged coastline.

The wonderful Fanad Peninsula has a number of top class tourist amenities. The dramatic Fanad Head Lighthouse is a Signature Point on Irelands Wild Atlantic Way. At Portsalon there is a top class 18 hole links  golf course and one of the finest Blue Flag Beaches in Ireland. The entire peninsula is dotted with secluded beaches and coves

Heading north west towards Horn Head there are numerous attractions along the way including Doe Castle, the lakes of Creeslough, Ards Forest Park, Marble Hill Strand, Portnablagh beach and harbour and the beach and golf resort of Dunfanaghy.

Mulroy Drive Cottage is just 26km from the magnificent Glenveagh National Park - the jewel in the crown of Donegal tourism.  Letterkenny - the main town in the county  - is  28km away.

The main living area in the holiday cottage is tastefully furnished and decorated. It has a high valuted ceiling adding to the sense of space. A double sided solid fuel stove provides a warm focal point. For home entertainment there is a a 46inch flatscreen tv - and free WiFi. Large windows and double glass doors flood the living area with natural light. The glass doors offer panoramic views of Mulroy Bay and the Fanad Hills.

  Kitchen

The holiday cottage has a very stylish modern kitchen.  It has a full range of appliances for a self catering holiday. The kitchen sink window offers views of Mulroy Bay. The dining area has a table and 4 chairs. A nice feature here is a half door.

  Bedroom

The main cottage bedroom has a super king sized bed. It enjoys lovely views towards Mulroy Bay. The double sided stove gives a very cosy feel to the room. 

  Loft

Additional accommodation in the holiday home is provided in the loft. There are 2 single beds here. The loft enjoys panoramic views of Mulroy Bay.
