Lough View Cottage, Glen-Carrigart

Lough View Cottage is a modern 4 bedroom holiday home located close to the shores of Glen Lough. Sheltered by mature trees to the back and side this luxury self-catering accommodation has wonderful views over the lake towards Muckish Mountain and the Donegal Highlands beyond.

Carrigart and Downings

Although set in a tranquil rural location Lough View Cottage is just 10 minutes drive away from the vibrant seaside resorts of Carrigart and Downings. These two coastal resorts are separated by the wonderful Tramore Strand and the renowned Rosapenna Golf Resort which features  2 championship links courses.

Downings also has a Blue Flag Beach and a quaint harbour making it a mecca for watersports enthusiasts. Carrigart has the Mevagh Dive Centre as well as several equestrian centres. Both villages are well served with hotels, pubs, shops, cafes and craft outlets.

Glen Village and Glen Lough

Even closer to the holiday home is the tiny village of Glen (2km). The village is located at the eastern end of Glen Lough under the shade of Lough Salt Mountain. In the village, the visitor will find the renowned Old Glen Bar. This is a true gem of an Irish country pub -- with the added bonus of a great restaurant attached.

Glen Lough itself is a beautiful tree-lined lake with a wonderful mountain background - including the spectacular Muckish Mountain. Salmon and sea-trout fishing are available on the Lough and on the nearby Lackagh River - permits are required and are available locally.

Wild Atlantic Way

With the opening of the Mulroy Bridge near Carrigart the holiday home is centrally located to explore 3 of the most beautiful peninsulas in Donegal - Fanad, Rosguill and Horn Head. The coastal roads on these peninsulas are part of Ireland’s long-distance driving route – The Wild Atlantic Way.

North Donegal

The majestic Glenveagh National Park in the heart of the Donegal Highlands is just over 18km away. This park contains a quaint Scottish style Castle, visitor centre, wonderful gardens and 16,000 hectares of mountains, glens and lakes. Event closer to the holiday home is the wonderful Ards Forest Park on the shores of Sheephaven Bay. Both parks offer numerous tracks and trails for the keen walker.

The living area in the holiday home is part of an open plan ground floor with kitchen, living and dining spaces. The area features large windows which allow lots of natural light in and also enable the visitor to enjoy panoramic views over Glen Lough and Muckish Mountain. The area is comfortably furnished and has a wood burning stove as well as a tv and DVD player.

  Kitchen

The bright kitchen area is well equipped for a self-catering holiday. Appliances available include gas cooker and hobs, microwave, dishwasher and fridge freezer. The kitchen has a stylish Rayburn cooker which can be used for both heating and cooking.
A washing machine is also available.

  Dining Area

The dining area has a large table that can comfortably accommodate 8 people. It is adjacent to a window overlooking Glen Lough.
