Customer Testimonials for Bunagee Cottage

Back to property details

Thank you so very much for the Easter welcome pack. We had a fantastic time, the house was wonderful. It was brilliantly appointed and there really wasn't anything that we would have wanted that wasn't there. It was warm, clean and welcoming. The instruction booklet was most helpful. The kids had an absolute blast despite the sea being so cold and we will definitely look again for availability when returning to Culdaff. Thank you for hosting  us.

Appreciating the view to Dunmore Head

We really appreciated how much thought you have put into equipping the house. We all loved the view from the backgarden - we all know Culdaff well, but loved sitting at the table at breakfast and just appreciating the view to Dunmore Head. We were lucky with the weather and that made it special too. We had a great week and very much enjoyed our stay.

We had a great stay at Bunagee Cottage in July with our childen, their partners and our grandchildren. The house was perfect for our large group - spotlessly clean, spacious rooms throughout with an enclosed back garden, all the facilities we wanted and boardgames/cards to keep the children happy. Culdaff village only a 5 minute walk with a shop, McGrorys hotel, 2 pubs and a takeaway, and the beautiful beach is a short 5 minute drive. If you need more, Moville/Carndonagh only 10/15 minutes in the car. We're going back next year.

Just spent an amazing 4 nights at Bunagee Cottage, Culdaff. 6 adults and 3 children under 10. The cottage, which is spotless, is  beautifully and tastefully decorated and has everything we could possibly need to accommodate everyone in the party. The children especially loved having movie nights with a great range of dvds and games available.
The cottage is a short walk to the nearest pub and shops which was ideal for my 81 year old parents. Sharon is a perfect host and all enquiries were answered quickly. She very thoughtfully left a lovely card and bottle of bubbly to help us celebrate my parents 60th wedding anniversary.
The cottage is a great base to explore the surrounding areas. We will definitely be back!

Great location for exploring Inishowen.

It was lovely to stay in your beautiful house this week. The kids really enjoyed the pier and the beach, despite the weather we made the most of it. It is a great location for exploring Inishowen. Of course we visited Malin Head, Fort Dunree and the water adventures in Moville. We are now homeward bound  for Sligo. Thanks again, we will be definitely back to explore more of North Donegal.

Spent another great week in Carabay, Culdaff. It's only been our fourth time! I just wanted to say thank you to Sharon. The house as usual was perfect for our stay with everything we needed. The fully equipped kitchen was not over utilized as we had the fantastic McGrory’s Hotel just a short walk from the house. We loved their seafood specials each evening on their outside terrace. Culdaff is a friendly & welcoming village with two great pubs – Culdaff Arms & McGuinness’s. The 4 hour trip from Dublin is well worth it, as we know we will have the comforts of home at Bunagee Cottage.

Fantastic property - large, clean, quiet neighbourhood, well maintained with all needed amenities. Great beach at Culdaff, but you are also close to a number of others - our favourite was five finger Strand. Great base for exploring Donegal. Owner was prompt on all and any questions. Highly recommend.

A very comfortable home from home

Bunagee cottage is in a great location with local shops and pubs right on your doorstep. We stayed over the New Year period in a group of eight adults and we all found the house to be very comfortable and could not find any fault whatsoever. Everything has been well thought out to ensure guests have everything they need. The open fire which was already set was very welcome and a great place to sit and chat with our friends in the evenings. Lots of lovely beaches and walks are located nearby. Many thanks to Liz for returning my Kindle which had been left behind. Angela and Paul Green

Beautiful house in a lovely setting

We had a great holiday while staying in this fabulous cottage at end of August. Great location - quiet and tranquil. Close to a fantastic beach, shop, bars and restaurant. The owners, Sharon & Glen, had the place perfectly prepared for our arrival - immaculately clean and well equipped. Their generosity & hospitality were second to none. The weather during our stay wasn’t the best, but there were books, board games, freeview and DVDs for those rainy days & evenings. The open fire was a cosy treat in the evenings. Not an exaggeration to say it was home from home! We would most definitely recommend (and look forward to a return) visit to Bunagee!

Highly recommend. Clean, homely, very well equipped

This house more than satisfied our needs. Can't think of anything more we could have needed. Our first impression was of a very clean well-maintained house. The kitchen was so well equipped and the bedrooms and bathrooms were really well presented. Even travelling with young kids you could arrive with just your suitcases and everything else is available. We had a 2yr old with us and the back garden is well fenced in so we were able to let him come and go outside without any worries. We were holidaying as a family of 8 adults and 1 child and there was plenty of space for everyone though we did spend much of our time in the sizeable kitchen at the table chatting, and playing cards and games. As a family the house provided us with exactly what we wanted and we would have no hesitation in booking it again or recommending to family and friends. Also Sharon the owner and Liz who looks after the house were very nice people to deal with.

Very comfortable, well-appointed house

Our extended family has stayed in a variety of properties around Culdaff for many years, and this was by far the best. Cara Bay is nicely situated between our favourite spots of Bunagee Harbour and the village and beaches of Culdaff. The house is spacious, well maintained and very tastefully decorated with everything in good working order and a very well-equipped kitchen. It was also spotlessly clean when we arrived. We couldn't fault it in any way - the only thing it doesn't have is wifi but that turned out to be a blessing as we got our daughter back!

A lovely home in a beautiful location

The home was just as described, and it was well maintained. This is a very comfortable home in a beautiful location. My family really enjoyed their stay, and we have every intention of returning for another holiday.

Does exactly what it says on the tin.... and some!

We stayed at the cottage with our 2 boys and other members of our family in July. The house is without doubt the best equipped house we have had the pleasure of staying at. Sharon and Glenn had covered all the bases and some. If you have a baby, there is a beautiful rocking chair for feeding, changing station and even baby monitors. The kitchen table comfortably seats 8 people and the kitchen is equipped with every utensil you will need. We spent most of our time in the kitchen but living rooms seats 7, although the cream sofa is a tad uncomfortable. Bedrooms are comfy and bathrooms were spotlessly clean. The house is situation in a quiet cul-de-sac, about a 5 min walk will bring you to the local shop and a few pubs. Another couple of minutes will bring you to McGrorys - this pub is outstanding amazing food and a good pint of guinness. The beach is a good 25 min walk, we took the car to the beach every day, plenty spaces to park. The beach is truly beautiful, even on rainy days. I can't recommend this property enough, it’s just fantastic!

Ideal home in ideal location

As you drive up to the property it looks every bit as good and you'd imagined from the descriptions given by the owners. But when you get inside the property it is like stepping into the Tardis! We were a party of 8 adults, 2 children and one infant. Not once did we trip over each other. Yes, we were helped by the glorious weather during the first week of June in Donegal so that we could make good use of the patio furniture and the bench outside the front of the property in the evenings, but the interior of the house is extremely spacious with good sized rooms. The solid wood dining table with 8 chairs spaced around it, and a couple of stools for the children and a high chair meant we could all eat together. The ensuite and main bathroom upstairs and downstairs cloakroom are more than adequate for a large group such as ours was. The back of the house overlooks the meadows to Culdaff beach sand dunes which is a view difficult to tire anyone. A five-minute drive to the north takes you to Bunagee Pier where you can watch the day's catch being landed and drive roughly the same distance to the south and you arrive at the car parks for the beautiful 'Blue Flag' Culdaff Beach itself. The beach sand and dunes are ultra clean and the sea water crystal clear. The gently shelving, sandy beach meant that it was safe enough for the children to play in the water under mild supervision without any fierce under-tow. Culdaff itself has everything a holidaying family would need with local pubs and restaurants, village stores and petrol filling station which also boasts a good take-away. The Inishowen Peninsula is packed with a wide variety of destinations to suit the whole family and of particular note is the Famine Village in Doagh which 'will' surpass your expectations. Malin Head is, of course, a 'must see' destination being the most northerly point of Ireland and only around half an hour from Culdaff. The Giant's Causeway is not too far away either but check that the ferry from Greencastle is running before heading that way or go via Londonderry. In short, the whole area is for us, the jewel in Ireland's crown and staying at Bunagee Cottage was the icing on a very enjoyable 'cake'!

Culdaff Time

Although Culdaff has been a holiday venue for my family all of my life ( A modest 50 years) this was the first time we had decided to visit at Christmas. We came across Bunagee Cottage online and although in the higher range of cost for rental in Culdaff we decided to go ahead with the booking. There is always that nervousness when having rented or booked a property online that that it would not live up to the images and descriptions provided but the house itself was lovelier than expected. Having driven from London and tired from the journey we were greeted with a blazing beautiful fire, the smell of peat burning, every facility in terms of kitchen, bathroom and sleeping facilities already provided and with an extra special touch of Christmas decorations and welcoming gifts. There are 5 lovely bedrooms. The 2 at the back of the house having a glorious view over Culdaff Bay. The main bedroom is ensuite and there are 2 other bathrooms. We needed as large a house as this because although there was only the three of us initially. My Wife, myself and my 9 year old son, we were having a number of relatives staying over the Christmas period. The winter weather in Culdaff is extremely mercurial, our first week there was as mild as spring and we spent over 2 hours every day exploring the beautiful beaches and climbing rocks. The next 2 and half weeks the weather was wilder but equally as exciting. I think I now prefer the winter weather to the summer. As with all relatives at Xmas we love to see them arrive and we love to see them go so the first and last bits of our holiday were just wonderful. There is no wifi in the house and I would encourage Glenn and Sharon to keep it that way. We read books, we played games, we got out all because of the lack of wifi. If needed all email can be checked in McGrorys hotel. The only thing I felt was slightly missing was the absence of Irish stations on the television. For us emigrants its lovely to fall back into the culture of Ireland for a while although we survived without the late late show. Bunagee cottage provided us with a wonderful holiday and on a personal note my health was challenged in 2015 and my stay in Culdaff was wonderfully recuperative. A beautiful holiday was had by all and I look forward to returning to Bunagee cottage soon.

Well equipped, modern, child-friendly home

Have just spent the May bank holiday at Bunagee Cottage. There were 10 of us in total, ages ranging from 21 months to 79 years. We were really impressed with the well equipped and spacious kitchen. The kitchen table was large enough to accommodate us all at mealtimes which was a very important aspect of our weekend away. As the weather was inclement at times the children could colour in at one end of the table while some adults enjoyed a board game and we were still together. The house was very child friendly with stair gates, high chair cot and buggy. The garden was enclosed, so safe for the children to play. We enjoyed the open fire in the evenings which was an added bonus. As our grandchildren were 21 months 3 and 5 years of age we didn't eat out, but Mc Grorys pub looked very inviting. I could thoroughly recommend this house. It was accurately described, clean and well maintained. Pat, Belfast

Ideal for family

The house is located in a small development, where many families from Northern Ireland have bought their weekend cottage. The location is very quiet in the evenings and during the week, as most families only come here on weekends. The house is very well equipped and also has many useful things to offer for families with children: stroller, high chair, travel bed, children's games etc. The house is very spacious and modern equipped with fireplace, new kitchen appliances and has a fenced garden with terrace. The processing with payment in EUR and the handing over of keys worked without any problems. The village pub and McGrorys is just a 5-minute walk away. However, you can walk to the beach in about 20 minutes. The beach is beautiful and clean, but the water in April at 8 degrees too cold to bathe.

Lovely house, great location

Bunagee cottage is a clean, spacious, modern home in a quiet spot just a short walk from the centre of Culdaff. When returning from a holiday I always ask myself the question 'Would I return to the same place again'? With Bunagee cottage the answer would be an emphatic yes. The whole process of booking with Glenn and Sharon was very simple and both were very helpful with our very last minute reservation. Upon arrival we were met by and handed our keys by Liz who was extremely nice, giving us lots of advice on places to visit etc. If you are looking for a relaxing, carefree place to stay in a great location then look no further than Bunagee cottage.

Beautiful spacious holiday home

Bright & clean with lovely enclosed garden at the back...had everything we needed in it. Ideal location to discover the magnificent Innishowen Peninsula. Culdaff village is very friendly and McGrorys pub had Irish music a couple of nights a week & lovely food in both bar & restaurant. Would recommend the house & area :-)

Good house

We have stayed in quite a number of houses in Culdaff over the years. This is by far the best. It's well equipped and well looked after. We would definitely recommend it. The listing description is very comprehensive.

Spacious, modern and great location!

Fantastic location, within walking distance to the village and beach. The house was incredibly well equipped, particularly the kitchen- we even managed to bake a birthday cake. The BBQ was also brand new. There were DVDs, video games and a CD player which was fantastic for rainy days. The bedrooms were all very comfortable and spacious. Everything was spotless. My only suggestion would be to have a couple of sets of keys as it was sometimes tricky to coordinate who would take the one set when our group split during the day. Overall a brilliant stay, I would highly recommend it to both families and a large group of friends.

Perfect home from home for our holiday

We really enjoyed our stay in Bunagee Cottage! Perfect location in beautiful surroundings, the beach is amazing!!!! We even got to see some dolphins! True home from home

We were very impressed with our stay at Bunagee. Everything was very easy from start to finish. The website was incredibly useful and the owner very helpful. It was a perfect home from home for us. My son was only 2 weeks old but we had a stress-free time due to the cottage being so well equipped.

Fantastic time in Culdaff

We had a first class stay at this property, it had everything we needed. It was immaculately clean, and it was within walking distance of everything we needed, shop, bar and restaurant 5 mins walk and beach 15-20 min walk. The owner provided great customer service and a local lady looks after the property and she is contactable if you need anything. There are two things I think which would have added to our stay one was a more comfortable couch in living area. Recliners are a bonus in a rental property and secondly the TV in living area was tiny, these things aside I would recommend to anyone and will hopefully return again. Thanks for everything.

Great base for Culdaff

House was perfect for us. 2 families with 4 kids. It’s a 2 min walk to the town and another short walk to the beach. House was very well presented on arrival and had everything we needed. Nice rear garden well secured for the kids and a nice quiet cul-de-sac so no passing traffic. Couldn’t ask for more! Thanks Sharon!

We had a wonderful time!!

We've been with five guys from Holland. Late fifty, still alive and kicking ...... We enjoyed the house, Culdaff, Donegal and the people over there. Live music as well, also in Derry and Belfast. Splendid. We'll recommend the House in Culdaff for the place in town, it's quite comfortable and near to the sea and the village. We had a wonderful time !! Peer, Frans, Giel, Jos and Fons

Great house in great location

This is a great property that is well equipped & in a good location to discover Donegal. This is the second year that we have stayed at the house & I would not hesitate to recommend it to family or friends. It can accommodate a large family comfortably & the house is very clean. The beds are great too. The beach/shops/pubs are all a short walk/drive away depending on how energetic you are!

Ideal base to look around beautiful Inishowen!

We were very happy with all aspects of our stay at Bunagee Cottage. The owner was very helpful as was the lady who looks after the cottage. It was very clean and well equipped. Decent kitchen knives for a change in a holiday home! The house was big enough to accommodate two couples, two teenagers (who could have a room each) and two younger children in the bunk-bed room so it was great for two families or larger groups. The position of the cottage was ideal for the village. If you have young children, you'll need a car (or strong shoulders!) to get to the beach and back. The cottage was an ideal base to look around beautiful Inishowen. Overall, I would be happy to recommend this lovely house.

Brilliant home from home!

I booked the house last minute for the May bank holiday after having been let down by someone else. The house was perfect, spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, comfy beds and the kitchen had everything we could possibly have needed. The garden is really secure, we had a toddler in our party so was ideal. The village of Culdaff itself is great, two great pubs McGrorys and the one beside the shop. The house is 10 mins easy stroll to the bars with a garage which has everything 5 mins walk away. Great location to travel around north Donegal. Also recommend Doagh famine village for some Irish history. We'll def be back and would recommend it to everyone. The bonus bottle of wine left for us was a lovely touch.

Your holiday home was great!

Your holiday home was great and the weather exceeded all expectations. Accommodation for our 2 families (9 in total) was ideal - very comfortable. Secure rear garden was good and location worked out very well. Culdaff beach is beautiful and great for body-boarding etc. Thank-you for all your help - would certainly recommend / revisit.

Fantastic first visit to Culdaff!

The whole family enjoyed the weekend immensely, but it was just too short to do everything we would have liked. The accommodation was superb and we could not fault it in any way. The wine and chocolates were a lovely touch (for my wife's birthday) and the flowers were beautiful. One wee complaint - you could have arranged for better weather!! Seriously though the weather did not detract in any way from a fantastic first visit to Culdaff and all 3 generations are planning to return ASAP.
