This 4 bedroomed family holiday home boasts fantastic views of Horn Head and the Dunfanaghy area. It can sleep up to 10 people in a very cosy environment. Oil Fired Central heating with stove fire. Less than a 5-minute drive to the town centre and the beautiful Kilahoey beach.
From its elevated site the holiday home enjoys panoramic views over the local coastline. To the front of the house there are wonderful views over New Lake towards the Atlantic Ocean. To the side of the house there are views towards the dramatic Horn Head Peninsula and Sheephaven Bay.
Everest Lodge shares its driveway, parking and garden space with its other property Lhotse Lodge next door. From time to time both properties will be occupied - particularly in High season. As both properties are in a residential area we do request that guests have quiet time from 11pm-7am to allow everyone an opportunity to benefit from the peaceful location.
For the waking, golfing or watersports enthusiasts, Everest Lodge is an ideal holiday base. There are 4 superb beaches within a short driving distance. The closest if the superb Blue Flag Killahoey Beach in Dunfanghy itself. This large beach is popular for walking, swimming, kite flying and windsurfing and is also used for pony trekking by the local equestrian centre.
The smaller Portnablagh beach with its quaint harbour is a popular boating venue. Just a few kilometers further along the coast is the magnificent Marble Hill Strand. And just to the north of Dunfanaghy is Tramore Strand – a totally unspoilt beach that is ideal for bracing walks.
In addition to the beaches the keen rambler will find numerous other walking terrains in the Dunfanaghy area. In the nearby Ards Forest Park there is good choice of woodland trails. There is also a beautiful walk around Horn Head. This spectacular headland offers some fine cliff scenery and views across the wild waters of Sheephaven Bay to the Rosguill and Fanad Peninsulas.
Muckish Mountain, which provides a dramatic backdrop to Dunfanaghy, is popular among hill walkers. Glenveagh National Park (22km), with its mountains and glens, is a walker’s paradise.
The keen golfer will find Dunfanaghy Golf Course a good test of links golf. This friendly course borders Kilahoey beach and enjoys lovely views of Horn Head, Sheephaven Bay and Muckish. The angler has a choice of 3 local lakes – Purt, Sessiagh and New Lake (Permits required). Portnablagh pier is a popular sea angling venue.
During the holiday season Dunfanaghy is a vibrant resort with a good choice of cafes, craft shops, art galleries and restaurants including the award winning Mill restaurant. The lively pubs have music sessions on a regular basis. Dunfanaghy can also claim to be the festival capital of north Donegal. Annual events include the St Patrick’s Day Parade, a Seafood Festival, the August Fair, the Dunfanaghy Jazz and Blues Festival and the Halloween Madness festival.

The house is spacious, comfortable and very well equipped. It was spotlessly clean, and the communication with the owner couldn’t have been more helpful or clear. But the real beauty is the location, with a stunning view over the beach and Horn Head. A perfect base for a Dunfanaghy holiday.
