Bayside Lodge is a hidden gem of the Wild Atlantic Way situated overlooking Mulroy Bay in North Donegal between Fanad Head and Rosguill Point, two major highlights of the Wild Atlantic Way route. The home has commanding views over the bay and into the distance where the sunsets directly in front of the property every evening.
The Lodge was designed in the 1970s era and was part of the modernist design ethos of the time. It is a split level design making the most of the view making each stay special. Ideal for 2 families sharing.
The Lodge is currently being re-decorated, so more interior photos will follow soon.
The house is laid out with kitchen, living, reading areas and sunroom on the ground floor with full-length windows commanding you to suck in the amazing views at every opportunity. There is a cosy TV snug for those who want to get a few moments in quiet luxury.
Our bedrooms are comfortable, well-appointed and again take advantage of the views. The property has direct access to the Mulroy Bay for a stroll along the peaceful saltwater inlet or for the more adventurous to jump in for a swim, possibly to kayak or just have fun.
Bayview Lodge is ideally located to take advantage of the many superb facilities or attractions in the area. Fanad Lighthouse and visitor centre is about 25 minutes driving away, Glenveagh National Park lies just beyond Muckish Mountain that you can see across the bay, some 40 minutes’ drive. We have the most scenic of drives to all attractions. Places like world-famous Portsalon and Rosapenna Golf Clubs are very nearby.
Unspoiled beaches such as Ballymastocker/Portsalon and Downings again are only a short jaunt away. Then directly near the Lodge about 10 minutes walk into the village of Kerrykeel we have The Rockhill Caravan and Adventure Park for kids entertainment and adventure.
There are several smaller shops in nearby Kerrykeel and a larger Lidl outlet near Milford (5 min drive)
Kerrykeel has an award-winning Coffee Shop and Restaurants, The Narrow Quarter and Ripples. Both offer something very different but both are special and serve amazing food. Other amazing restaurants nearby are, The Glen Bar, Fisk, An Bonnan Bui, The Singing Pub and Rathmullan Houses Cellar Bar for fantastic pizza or their more formal restaurant.
Kerrykeel also boasts several nice pubs, two good takeaways and a convenience store with a deli and a butchers. Milford, which is 3.5km from the house boasts an assortment of the same, Mulroy Woods Hotel Restaurant and Bar and The Travellers Inn another award-winning traditional Pub and eatery in a traditional setting with open fires etc.
You are spoiled for choice in breathtaking scenery, activities and World Class Cuisine from this location. Walkers can find miles of trails in unspoilt mountainous terrain in all directions from here also. Cyclists can find of the best and most challenging but scenic coastal routes to enjoy with traffic less of a concern than many other locations. Charter fishing is available in Rathmullan, Portsalon and Downings. We live in a paradise for all these pursuits, come see for yourself.
Getting around is mainly achieved by car or bicycle from us. There is a slick new bus service called Local Link which can be hailed at the gate which will bring you to Fanad, Rathmullan, Ramelton and Letterkenny from morning to late evening every day and leaving Letterkenny around midnight at weekends to bring you home. If you can boat or have access to one then you may get to Downings and Carrigart without leaving the bay. The village is a nice stroll away and is safe to walk or cycle on from our location. Taxi services are local and availability is almost always very good.
