The Gailey's - Portsalon

The Gailey's is a 5 bedroom holiday home located on an elevated and private site above the quaint beach and golf resort of Portsalon on the Fanad Peninsula in North Donegal.  With mature gardens and sheltered by trees the site enjoys superb views over Ballymastoker Bay towards Knockalla Mountain.

The holiday home can accommodate up to 10 people in 5 bedrooms. There is a living area with open fireplace and a lovely sun room enjoying sea and mountain views. The centre piece of the well equipped kitchen is an Aga Range. The holiday home garden is enclosed by trees and shrubs. There is a patio area with outdoor furniture and bbq. There is a table tennis table and outdoor games as well as some wet suits and body boards.

The Beach and Golf Resort of Portsalon

From the front door it is just 1km down to the beautiful pier and  sandy cove at Portsalon. Here there is a restaurant and the renowned Stores Bar. There is also a watersports shop where kayaks, pedal boats and boogie boards can be rented.   A hundred metres from the pier is the start a superb Blue Flag Beach that stretches all along Ballymastoker Bay to the foot of Knockalla Mountain. 

The Club House of Portsalon Golf Course is also just 1km from the holiday home. This superb 18 hole links courses is one of the true hidden golf gems in Ireland.

Wild Atlantic Way

Portsalon lies along the route of Irelands Wild Atlantic Way. Perhaps one of the most scenic drives along this route is the Knockalla Coast Road just to the south of Portsalon. 11 km to the north is the iconic Fanad Head Lighthouse. This is one of the Signature Points on the Wild Atlantic Way and is now open to the public.

Local Attractions / Amenities

• Enjoy beautiful unspoilt beaches in the locality –  as well as Portsalon there are fine beaches at Sessiagh, Ballyhiernan, Ballywhoriskey and Rathmullan
• Golf at Portsalon Golf Club – a classic 18 hole links course.
• Enjoy the sports and games facilities available at the Rockhill Caravan and Activity Park in Kerrykeel
• Go fly fishing at the Meadows fishery in nearby Rosnakill
• Take a trip along the spectacular Knockalla Coast Road.
• Try surfing at the  Adventure One Surf School in Ballyheirnan Bay
• Go deep sea fishing or sight-seeing on Lough Swilly - there are charter boats at Portsalon and Rathmullan
• Climb Muckish and Errigal.
• Visit Glenveagh National Park, with 16,000 hectares of mountains, lakes, wood and bogs. Glenveagh contains the largest red deer population in Europe.  Within the National Park Glenveagh Castle and gardens are well worth a visit on their own
• Find numerous peaceful roads, country lanes and mountain tracks to walk

The living area is comfortably furnished and has an open fireplace. For home entertainment there is a lcd tv, dvd player and Wii console. A dvd library is available

The centrepiece of the holiday home kitchen is an Aga Range. Other appliances available include electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher and fridge freezer.
A washing machine is also available.

Accommodation make-up in the holiday home is as follows:-

• Bedroom 2: single on ground floor

• Bedroom 5: 4 singles on upper floor

• Bathroom 1: on ground floor with toilet and shower. 
• Bathroom 2: on upper floor with toilet, bath and hand held shower.  
• Separate 3rd toilet on ground floor

Tariff

Booking Details

Booking deposit (non-refundable) of euro150 per week - with balance to be paid six weeks prior to the letting period. If you cancel close to booking an extra cost will be added.

• rental Sat – Sat except by special arrangement
• From October until April short stay costs will alter if there are more than 4 .people staying.

Please leave your bottles to the bottle bank at the car parking the golf course.
