St John's Bunbeg- Gweedore-Donegal

This adorable, newly renovated cottage is situated in Bunbeg in the heart of Gweedore and just a stone's throw away from all the amenities that this seaside Gaeltacht has to offer. Local bars and restaurants, cosy cafés, expansive beaches, children's playground’s and historic ruins are all within walking distance. 

Location

It is within proximity to wonderful locations such as Glenveigh National Park, Castle and gardens which is a mere 30 mins drive and 15 mins from Dunlewey Centre/pet farm and Mount Errigal, the highest mountain in the county, all of which makes this location ideal for young families looking for a seaside holiday filled with fun activities.

For those in search of a getaway trip with friends or wishing to work from home in a charming environment fear not, this cosy cottage is equipped with modern, up-to-date furnishings to make your stay as comfortable as possible as well as being walking distance from all of the lively pubs and restaurants and just 20 minutes’ drive from Donegal Airport, named most scenic airport in the world.

Bunbeg

The quaint harbour of Bunbeg is a short drive or leisurely walk from the holiday home. The local pub, Teach Hiúdaí Beag is renowned for its music sessions and Caifé Kitty across the road is excellent for a leisurely breakfast/brunch. The region around Bunbeg is a Gaeltacht area where the Irish language is still widely spoken.

• Use the holiday home as a base to explore the Wild Atlantic Way in West and North West Donegal
• Golf on nearby Gweedore Golf Club – a challenging 9 hole course.
• Find numerous peaceful roads, country lanes and mountain tracks to walk. Slí an Earagail - a Bealach na Gaeltachta Waymarked Way - passes close by the holiday home.
• Try sailing or kayaking with Selkie Sailing based in nearby Derrybeg
• Visit Dunlewey Lakeside Centre - Facilities include restaurant, tea-room, craft shop, adventure play areas, pets & animals, storytelling, boat trips on Dunlewey Lake, guided tours and weaving demonstrations.
• Enjoy beautiful unspoilt beaches on your doorstep – Magheraclogher and Mageragallon Beaches within walking distance and Port Arthur a short drive away.
• Relax in the An Chuirt Hotel Leisure Centre
• Take a day trip to Tory Island, Inishbofin or Gola Island. The ferry service to Tory Island is available from Bunbeg and Magheraroarty several times a day - weather permitting
• Climb Muckish and Errigal. Mount Errigal, the highest mountain in Donegal is a demanding climb and once on the summit, you can see for miles around.
• Visit Glenveagh National Park, with 16,000 hectares of mountains, lakes, wood and bogs. Glenveagh contains the largest red deer population in Europe. Within the National Park Glenveagh Castle and gardens are well worth a visit on their own
• Fish for salmon on the Clady river - five minutes walk from the cottage

Booking Details

Booking deposit of euro200 per week - with balance to be paid six weeks prior to the letting period

check in 4pm, check out 10am

During high season rentals run Saturday to Saturday
