Sophie's - Dunfanaghy

Sophie’s Cottage is a newly converted 2-bedroom apartment in a peaceful and tranquil countryside location, yet within 5 minutes drive from the popular tourist villages of Dunfanaghy and Creeslough. Located right beside Ards Forest Park, and within a few minutes drive from Marblehill and Portnablagh Beaches, Sophie’s Cottage is the ideal base whether you wish to explore the beaches and scenery of the Wild Atlantic Way, or enjoy the touristy vibe and nightlife that Dunfanaghy has to offer. Doe Castle and Glenveagh Castle & National Park are also only a short drive away. This 2 bedroom apartment can cater for up to 6 people, with 1 double bedroom and a second bedroom with 4 single beds.

Golf at Dunfanaghy

Dunfanaghy Golf Club is an 18-hole links course and is only 3km from the apartment. The course is  an excellent golfing challenge, with spectacular views of  headlands, beaches, harbours and mountains. The greens are consistently rated with the best in the country, and the course - being sand-based  -  is playable throughout the year. There are several other excellent courses nearby.

Surrounding Area

The Apartment is centrally located on the North Donegal coastline. The natural landscape of this scenic area  provides the basis for many of the activities that the visitor can enjoy. In addition to an abundance of golden sandy beaches  there are many water-based activities in the Portnablagh/Dunfanaghy area - including windsurfing, water-skiing, scuba diving, canoeing and sailing.

Mountain climbing and hill walking are popular in this spectacular landscape with Errigal,  Muckish and the Derryveagh mountains all easily reachable. The hills and coastline are also major attractions for cyclists.

Fishing is a major activity in this part of Donegal  and many types of fish can be caught around the coast including pollock, codling, conger and  mackerel. Wreck fishing and shark fishing can also be enjoyed - a number of  boats can be chartered or hired from local fishermen.

Within a thirty-minute drive of the holiday apartment there are numerous things to do and places to visit. You have the majestic Glenveagh National Park and the beautiful Ards Forest Park. The lakeside centre in Dunlewy has something for all the family. Letterkenny has all the amenities you would expect to find in a large town - cinemas, museums, theatre, leisure centres, art galleries and excellent shopping.
