The magnificent Glenveagh National Park is just 25km away

Stunning Views from Every Room

This top class self catering accommodation has 3 very spacious ensuite bedrooms – all with lovely sea views. There is an additional shower room on the ground floor. There are two large living rooms with views over the beach.

Both are tastefully furnished and decorated and have open fireplaces. One room has a large flatscreen tv while the other is an ideal reading and relaxing room.  There is a stylish modern kitchen with a large bright dining area which enjoys views over the bay and islands.

The holiday home has a lawn to the front and a patio area with outdoor furniture.

The holiday home has the added advantage of high speed broadband.

A Beautiful Beach on Your Doorstep

Magheraclogher Strand is a fine sandy beach on the shores of Gweedore Bay.   The off shore islands give it added shelter. The beach is popular for watersports of all kinds. Walking along the waters edge there are lovely views back over Bunbeg village towards the imposing figure of Errigal Mountain.

There are numerous other beaches and sandy coves along the Gweedore coastline including the fabulous Port Arthur Beach in Derrybeg. The Blue Flag Carrickfinn beach is 15km away. A number of sailing and watersports activity centres are based in the local region including Selkie Sailing in Derrybeg ( sailing, kayaking) and Rapid Kayaking in Annagry (kayaking and canoeing)

Gaeltacht Area with Vibrant Music Scene

Seawater House is located in the heart of the West Donegal Gaeltacht.  Along with the Irish language a healthy traditional Irish music scene has survived in Bunbeg and the wider Gweedore area.

During the summer months there are music sessions in the local pubs in both Bunbeg and Derrybeg.  Leo's Tavern in Meenaleck (8km) is the home of the world famous Clannad and Enya and holds regular music sessions throughout the year.

Scoil Gheimhridh Ghaoth Dobhair is an annual week long music festival attracting musicians from all over the world for lessons in the art of traditional Irish music. The festival takes place in venues throughout Gweedore over the new year period.

Ideal Walking Terrain.

Seawater House is an ideal base for the walking enthusiast.  Slí an Earagail - a Bealach na Gaeltachta Waymarked Way - passes along the Bunbeg coastline. This is long distance walking route (approx 60kms) and encompasses mountain, riverside, seaside and forest habitats.  Most sections of Slí an Earagail are on track and minor roads. There are also numerous walking trails within the boundaries of Glenveagh National Park. For the more adventurous, Mount Errigal is a short drive away.

Local Activities and Attractions

The scenic 9 hole Gweedore Golf Club is less than 3 km from the front door. The holiday home is also just 2km from the quaint harbour in Bunbeg - reputedly the smallest harbour in Europe. This working harbour is a departure point for a ferrys to both Tory Island and Gola Island.

Gola features deserted beaches and unique rock and cliff scenery. Tory Island is a day trip but the visitor will be rewarded with magnificent scenery - scenery that has beguiled generations of artists.

Sea angling and river fishing are popular in the area around Bunbeg. Unique Ascent is a company offering rock and sea stack climbing along the West Donegal coastline. There is a fine Leisure Centre at the nearby An Chuirt Hotel

The Dunlewey Centre

Situated between the foothills of Mount Errigal and  the shores of Dunlewey Lough is the wonderful Dunlewey Centre (Ionad Cois Locha). Facilities include a weaving museum, farm animals, play areas, climbing wall, go-karting, canoeing, boat trips, guided tours, souvenir / craft shop and restuarant. Traditional music concerts are held each Tuesday night throughout the summer in the large newly built concert venue.

Glenveagh National Park

The holiday home is just 20 minutes drive away from Glenveagh National Park. Glenveagh is the jewel in the crown of Donegal tourism.

This magnificent park contains 14,000 hectares of lakes, mountains, raised bogland and woodland. The golden eagle has been reintroduced into the park in recent years. Other birds that can be seen include grouse, ravens, redstarts, stonechats and wood warblers.

The park has the largest herd of red deer in Ireland and also features foxes, badgers, hares and stoats. The 19th century Glenveagh Castle on the shores of Lough Veagh is open to the public throughout the tourist season.

What they say

Congratulations on an absolutely wonderful site! I was going crazy researching availability on other sites - that did not state price, no. of rooms, bathroom facilities often (even after clicking three or four links) and also did not follow a pattern for each entry. Your site is delightful. I could go through all pages of entries and with the price details given immediately did not need to waste time over entries not within my budget.
