Sandfield House - Portnoo

Sandfield is a newly built holiday home nestled in the quiet scenic countryside of southwest Donegal. This spacious home is an ideal location for summer or winter breaks. Situated 5km west of the heritage town of Ardara and 5km south-east of the holiday resort of Portnoo which hosts magnificent sandy beaches and is home to one of Ireland’s finest links courses. This luxury property is tastefully furnished and fully equipped to ensure you have a memorable holiday in this beautiful part of southwest Donegal.

The twin holiday villages of Narin and Portnoo are delightfully situated beyond Kilclooney in the shelter of the hills on the south side of Gweebarra Bay. Narin has a fine sandy beach 1.5mi/2.5km long and an 18-hole golf course. At low tide it is possible to walk or paddle to the little islet of Inishkeel.

Golf Club

Narin and Portnoo Golf Club, is situated in a beautiful seaside resort in southwest Donegal. It is considered one of the finest natural and scenic18-hole links courses in Ireland, with sweeping views of Gweebarra Bay. Opened in 1930, it is engagingly old fashioned with a meandering routing over and around the dunes. The course has recently been re-developed and the new par 73 layout offers a range of teeing areas and challenges to suit all golfer.

Local Activities and Attractions

Ardara (5km from Sandfield) is one of the most attractive towns in Donegal and is set in a wide valley where the Owentocher River enters Loughros More Bay. The environs of the town is an area rich in history, culture, bounded by stunning landscapes and has an abundance of activities for the holidaymaker. Ardara is a traditional centre for weaving and knitwear production. Its historical importance has been recognised in the granting of Heritage status to the town.  The visitor will find a number of excellent restaurants in the locality as well as friendly pubs – several of which feature traditional music sessions.

The living room is situated to the front of the house. It features a welcoming open fire, is well furnished with comfortable sofa and arm chairs. The room has a solid oak floor and the large windows allow full visual access to the stunning view of the surrounding landscape.
