This is a newly renovated home set in a quiet area, a five-minute drive from Donegal Town. Harvey's Point Hotel is 10 minutes away. The famous Biddys O Barnes pub-restaurant is five minutes away. The house has a large living and kitchen area. There are three bedrooms - one on the ground floor and two on the first floor. There are beautiful views of the surrounding countryside which can be enjoyed from a large seven-person hot tub. There is also a log cabin adjacent to the house with a private hot tub this can sleep four guests.
The holiday home is less than 6km from Harvey's Point Hotel and less than 4km from the 5-star Solis Lough Eske Castle Hotel which means it is an ideal accommodation base for people attending wedding receptions in these renowned establishments. Both hotels have good reputations for bar food, entertainment and fine dining. The hotels have music at weekends.
Translated from Irish Lough Eske means "Lake of the Fish". Unsurprisingly then, the lake and its tributaries are popular for fishing, especially for spring salmon, sea trout and alpine char, with the season running from 1 March to 31 September. Indeed, Lough Eske is only one of four fishing lakes in Ireland which boasts Alpine Char.
The holiday home is situated within easy driving distance of the Ardnamona Wood Nature Reserve. This reserve is at the heart of a large area of interesting wooded habitat around Lough Eske. It is perhaps the finest native oak wood in County Donegal and has one of the country's best Rhododendron collections
Lough Eske is surrounded to the north, east and west by the Bluestack Mountains, which occupy most of central and eastern Donegal. The Bluestack Way passes the road in front of the holiday home. This is a Waymarked Way designed to traverse the Bluestacks using existing roadways, paths and tracks to lead the walkers through the mountains in a safe and sustainable manner.
Lough Eske lies 6km to the northeast of Donegal Town, to which it is connected by the River Eske. Donegal Town is of great historical interest and has numerous tourist attractions. Donegal Castle stands beside The Diamond, overlooking the River Eske. Guided historical tours of Donegal Town take place on a daily basis during the summer and the Waterbus takes you around Donegal Bay. The ruins of Donegal Abbey, situated on the bay, are open to the public. Donegal Town also has several first-class hotels and restaurants. There is entertainment each night in the local pubs with music to suit all tastes.
