A quiet and peaceful location to relax and unwind by a warm fire and no TV - the traditional cottage is set in generous landscaped grounds including a small wood and stream. An ideal base from which to explore the Wild Atlantic Way and all the scenery of The Rosses and Donegal.
There are several beaches a few minutes drive away and numerous walks around the surrounding area. The nearest town Dungloe (An Clochan Liath) is a 6km drive with bars, restaurants and shops.
The cottage is traditionally stone-built and heated by an air-source heat pump as well as the wood-burning fire (logs are included). In addition, there is a heat-recovery system to vent the air around all the rooms to maintain guests comfort. No TV but there is WIFI throughout, as well as board games for all ages. Visitors and pets are free to explore the grounds around the cottage. the electricity supply is also boosted by solar panels and there is an ourdoor plug where visitors can charge their EV but it is not an EV point.
A car is advisable to get around but there are local paths and roads which can be navigated on foot - the locals are also very friendly!!! Free and ample parking on-site for 2 cars.
All around the cottage you will find rugged peninsulas, clean beaches and towering mountains. The visitor will find numerous peaceful roads, country lanes and mountain tracks to walk. West Donegal is famous for its natural beauty - from the majesty of Glenveagh National Park to the wild Atlantic views along the Rosses and Gweedore coastline. Errigal and the Derryveagh Mountains are within 1 hours drive. The Dunlewey Lakeside Centre is a similar distance by car and boasts an exciting historical display of local crafts, trips on the lake, play facilities for children and pony trekking.
The visitor can sample the delights of local fishing in many surrounding lakes and rivers. The holiday home is central to both Bunbeg and Burtonport harbours where several charter boats and ferries operate. These can be used for sea angling, sight seeing or visiting the local islands including Gola and Aranmore
Golf on nearby Cruit Island Golf Club – a challenging 9 hole course.

Try some of the local award-winning restaurants - Danny Minnies in Annagry or the Lobster Pot in Burtonport

Visit Glenveagh National Park, with 16,000 hectares of mountains, lakes, wood and bogs. Glenveagh contains the largest red deer population in Europe. Within the National Park Glenveagh Castle and gardens are well worth a visit on their own

The cosy interior has a wood burning stove (logs supplied) and is equipped with Radio/cd player, Google Nest mini pod, board games. Please note that there is no TV
The living area also has dining table, maps, and local information
The kitchen has a Cooker, Dishwasher, Microwave, Fridge, coffee machine and is fully equipped with utensils, crockery and glassware as well as cleaning essentials. We aim to recycle as much waste as possible.
The washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board and freezer can be found in the utility shed, as well as extra logs for the fire.
The cottage has 2 bedrooms to sleep a total of 4 guests
