Rockhill Cottage is a beautiful 4-bedroom holiday home newly renovated situated in the popular family holiday resort of Portnablagh overlooking Sheephaven Bay and Horn Head. It lies along the Wild Atlantic Way and is just 2 kilometers from the seaside village of Dunfanaghy in North West Donegal.

Fully Equipped Modern Cottage

The house is perfect for one large family or one family plus an additional couple, and we hope our guests enjoy it as a home away from home. The cottage has all the mod-cons (WiFi, Sky TV, DVD player, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, charcoal barbeque), and there is a generous terrace and a large lawned garden with a trampoline.

Portnablagh Beach and Pier

From the house, it is a leisurely 0.5 km stroll downhill to Portnablagh beach and pier, which is popular for swimming, watersports and boating. Anglers are well served also with sea angling at the pier and lake fishing is available 0.5 km inland from the house on Sessiagh Lake (permits required). Also within walking distance of the house is The Cove Restaurant, Green Door Art Gallery and Brewbox Coffee.

Marble Hill

The house is ideally located close to the area’s two well-known Blue Flag beaches Marble Hill and Killahoey, sitting approximately halfway between both. Marble Hill has a vast golden strand which is very popular with swimmers, surfers, paddlers, and walkers and also a smaller beach set in a rocky cove separated from the main strand during high tide with slipway for small boats and moorings for larger boats just offshore.

Shandon Hotel and Spa

Marble Hill is very well served with a host of other amenities including artisan coffee at The Shack, surf and sea swimming schools throughout the holiday season, the Shandon Hotel and Spa and ice cream from Simply DeVine Ice Cream. Killahoey beach is a 1.5km long strand close to Dunfanaghy village with spectacular panoramic views of Horn Head, Muckish Mountain and the Rosguill Peninsula.

Ards Forest Park

Ards Forest Park and Ards Friary are close by which provide an array of walking and cycling trails to suit all abilities. Walkers are also well served by the recently opened 6km greenway along the old railway line from the foot of nearby Muckish Mountain to

Hill-Walking and Golf

Falcarragh, or for the more adventurous walker, Muckish and Errigal mountains provide an enjoyable challenge. The house is a good base for golfers visiting the areas with Dunfanaghy Golf Club close to the house, the course laid out by Harry Vardon in 1905 and being upgraded under the watchful eye of former Ryder Cup Golfer and Captain Paul McGinley - the courses boast spectacular views across Sheephaven Bay.

Rosapenna Golf Resort

The world-renowned Rosapenna Golf Resort is a 25-minute drive for the house. The holiday home is about 3 km from Dunfanaghy Village which is a vibrant seaside village with restaurants, cafes, friendly traditional pubs, craft shops and art galleries.

Dunfanaghy Festivals

Dunfanaghy has a number of annual festivals including the Bluegrass and Nashville Festival in June and a Jazz and Blues Festival in September. Lying just north of Dunfanaghy is the dramatic Horn Head Peninsula which features a stunning scenic drive and numerous scenic walks. The entire peninsula has been designated as an Irish Natural Heritage Area and a Refuge for Fauna (specifically sea birds)

What they say

Congratulations on an absolutely wonderful site! I was going crazy researching availability on other sites - that did not state price, no. of rooms, bathroom facilities often (even after clicking three or four links) and also did not follow a pattern for each entry. Your site is delightful. I could go through all pages of entries and with the price details given immediately did not need to waste time over entries not within my budget.
