Within this beautiful architectural setting there is a vibrant village with many facilities for you to enjoy during your visit. The Town Hall is the venue for a variety of entertainment including concerts and stage plays. The weekly Country Market is renowned for fresh vegetables, home baking and local handcrafted gifts. The village has many quaint pubs - the wonderful Bridge Bar is a highly regarded music venue while Conway's Pub enables the visitor to take a step back in time and the recently opened Purty House is Ramelton's amazing new pub
Ramelton is often referred to as “The Jewel in Donegal's Crown” and for good reason too! It is a delightful Bord Failte designated Heritage Town, and the perfect base from which to explore Donegal. Located where the River Lennon enters a bay on Lough Swilly, it offers lovely riverside walks, an ancient stone bridge and handsome houses. Ramelton has always had a unique and slightly quirky character of its own. You'll find a warm atmosphere here, wonderfully friendly people, lovely pubs and a wealth of living history.
Ramelton is familiar to anyone making their way up along the shores of Lough Swilly. It comes as a surprise to many visitors to find such an elegant Georgian streetscape in a county that is better known for its natural attractions.
The town was built by the same William Stewart who is credited with the establishment of the nearby town of Letterkenny.
Donegal as a whole is renowned for its unspoilt beauty, superb blue flag beaches, rugged landscapes and its heritage including the breathtaking Gleanveagh National Park. Ramelton itself has a central location in County Donegal and this makes it an ideal base to tour this beautiful part of Ireland. The spectacular landscapes of the Fanad, Rosguill and Inishowen Peninsulas, the unspoilt Donegal Highlands and the ancient and historic walled City of Derry are all with an hours drive of the apartment.
