We have stayed here every year (and sometimes twice a year) from summer 2011 and we keep going back. Why? The cottage is fantastic, immaculate and spotlessly clean with everything anyone could ever want (and more). The location is simply idyllic - a great base from which to discover more of The Rosses and Gweedore, or just simply to enjoy the stunning beauty of the surrounding beaches. The hosts, Cathal and Elma are so lovely, welcoming and friendly and are always on hand if anything is needed.

We are so looking forward to our week in Sunmer 2022. The perfect place to spend a holiday in Ireland

ON TRIP ADVISOR THERE ARE NUMEROUS REVIEWS FOR OUR CARRICKFINN HOLIDAY COTTAGE AND THE OLD SCHOOLHOUSE

We found this wonderful cottage by chance in the summer of 2010, and our visit this summer (2016) will be our tenth since then! So what is it that keeps us going back? The cottage is spotless, well equipped and idyllically situated.  It is family-friendly, comfortable, spacious, and a real home-from-home if the weather is bad! The owners could not be more welcoming and helpful, in fact they are like old friends now!

The first time we stepped into the Old Schoolhouse, we knew we had found our home from home. That was four years ago, and every year it just keeps calling us back.  If you are lucky enough to fly to Carrickfinn, the first glimpse you get of the cottage is from the tiny plane window as it tilts and glides over the stunning smile of sand that is Carrickfinn beach.  Only from the air can you really appreciate how perfectly the cottage is located. With a choice of 5 or 6 amazing beaches at the doorstep, beautiful villages and lively towns, the best crab in Ireland, and so much to do, it is the ideal place. It has the heritage of being the old schoolhouse (complete with school desks) and the modern amenities you need for a family holiday - with the added bonus of sitting on the decking in the evening watching the sun set behind Mt Errigal. I could not recommend it, or Elma and Cathal Gallagher highly enough.

Carrickfinn Cottages: we have stayed in the cottage and The Schoolhouse, multiple times. This is where we go to calm our souls and get our batteries recharged. Everything works! Our only complaint is that we can not get the time to go more often. Roll on the next visit!
