This wonderful restored Georgian country house offers the perfect retreat for a quiet, luxurious weekend or a weekly family holiday creating special memories. The house is over 200 years old and steeped in history with the hymn writer/poet Cecil Frances Alexander living at the house in the late 19th century. Step through the classic entrance door to ‘The Old Rectory’ and discover this beautiful Georgian home.

Gardens

The house has an elevated position, set in 4 acres of gardens overlooking beautiful Lough Swilly. With a sweeping tree line drive and a garden that boasts and array of beautiful flowers, with a sea of daffodils and snowdrops as a must see which engulfs the gardens in the springtime. The house is also located next door to St Mura’s Cross which is a beautifully decorated 7th-century cross-slab, located in the old graveyard adjoining the house.

The Fahan Area

The stunning area of Fahan is situated between the City of Derry and Buncrana, with direct access to the Inishowen 100, a spectacular ring road around the Inishowen peninsula. Fahan is also conveniently situated between the Glenveagh National Park and the Giants Causeway which are areas of outstanding natural beauty.

‘The Old Rectory’ has been owned by The Dorrian Family since 1976. It has been an incredibly happy home for many years and we are proud to share this wonderful place with other families. Creating their own cherished memories!

An Ideal Base to Explore the Inishowen Peninsula and Derry City

The Old Rectory is located along the Wild Atlantic Way driving route, ideal to explore the beautiful Inishowen Peninsula. During the summer months the Buncrana to Rathmullan car ferry provides easy access to the equally stunning Fanad Peninsula.

The historic holiday home is also an ideal for those who wish to explore historic Derry City from a more a tranquil base. Few places in these islands can offer such a compelling and unique experience for the visitor as the Walled City of Derry - its setting on the steep hills overlooking the wide sweep of the River Foyle, its distinctive architecture and its famous walls all provide enormous appeal. The Lonely Planet Guide have Derry in the top 10 cities to visit in 2013.
