Lag Dubh - Cruit Island

Lag Dubh is a spacious 2 bedroom all ensuite holiday home situated on beautiful Cruit Island.  This top-class self-catering accommodation is surrounded by beautiful sandy beaches, cliffs and rugged coastline.

Cruit Island lies off the coast of West Donegal near the village of Kincasslagh. It is a small island measuring roughly 3 miles by one mile. It is approached by a bridge so access to it is easy.  On the island, there is the very scenic 9 hole Cruit Golf Club which has its own bar.

Beaches Galore

The island is ruggedly beautiful and is dotted with sandy beaches all around its coastline. In fact, there are about twelve beaches on Cruit. There is also a small pier and a couple of slipways. The cliffs on the island are popular with rock climbers.

Kincasslagh

Kincasslagh on the mainland is a very short drive from the holiday home. This small Gaeltacht village has a shop and a pub and its harbour is a popular base for kayaking and sailing. Saoire Mara Charters offer deep sea angling and coastal and island cruises from Kincasslagh pier.

Ideal Touring Base for West Donegal

The holiday home is a tranquil base to explore the wider region around Cruit Island. The includes the Wild Atlantic Way on Donegals West and North West coastlines and the Rosses area with is numerous lakes. A number of great day trips can be enjoyed from the holiday home including Glenveagh National Park, The Dunlewey Lakeside Centre and Arranmore Island

The holiday is located 8km from Carrickfinn Airport with direct flights to Dublin and Glasgow.

• Go fishing on Loughanure lake - or on the many other lakes in the Rosses area
• Visit Leo’s Tavern in Meenaleck – the home of world-renowned Clannad and Enya
• Take a trip around the spectacular Bloody Foreland
• Visit Dunlewey Lakeside Centre - Facilities include a restaurant, tea-room, craft shop,  adventure play areas, pets & animals, storytelling, boat trips on Dunlewey Lake, guided tours and weaving demonstrations.
• Take a day trip to  Aranmore, Tory Island or Gola Island.
• Climb  Errigal Mountain
• Visit Glenveagh National Park, with 16,000 hectares of mountains, lakes, wood and bogs. Glenveagh contains the largest red deer population in Europe.  Within the National Park Glenveagh Castle and gardens are well worth a visit on their own
