Halla Maille - Burtonport

Halla Maille is a modern 4 bedroom holiday home with a wonderful coastal setting in the Rosses area of West Donegal. It is situated in the townland of Tullyisland just 2km north of the harbour village of Burtonport.  From its elevated site the holiday home enjoys uninterrupted views over a sea inlet surrounded by a number of small Islands with the much larger Arranmore Island a few kilometres further out to sea. . The holiday home is also just a few kilometres from Dungloe Town and from Cruit Island with its many beaches and scenic golf course

Halla Maille has 4 spacious and comfortable bedrooms – one ensuite. The main open plan living space has sea views on 3 sides. There is  underfloor heating throughout the holiday home. In fine weather the decking area to the front of the house can be used as a second dining area or for simply relaxing and enjoying the superb coastal views below.

The Rosses

The Rosses area itself is one of the most beautiful parts of County Donegal. It extends from the Gweebarra Bridge to the south as far as Crolly Bridge to the North. It offers an incomparable wealth of scenery, mountains, rivers, lakes and beaches.  Visitors return  to the Burtonport area year on year to relax and enjoy the scenic beauty of this wonderful part of Donegal.

The area around Halla Maille is wonderful walking terrain. The route of Slí na Rosann passes close by the holiday home. Slí na Rosann is a 65km circular route covering much of the Rosses area. For the more adventurous, Mount Errigal - the highest mountain in Donegal - is just a short drive away.

Another main reason why people come to the Burtonport area is its reputation as a great place for fishing. This is due in no small part to the work of the Rosses Angling Association. With over 130 lakes, the area is renowned for both lake and river fishing. It is also a good base for sea angling with several charter boats based at Burtonport Harbour and nearby Kincasslagh

Summer Festivals

Burtonport has an 8 day summer festival in July each year catering for all age group. Nearby Dungloe hosts a number of festivals and other organised events throughout the year catering for almost every taste. These include the internationally renowned Mary from Dungloe Festival which takes place each summer. During this 10-day event visitors to Dungloe are treated to a fantastic programme of music, song, dance and street entertainment. There is also a festival dedicated to the local writer Peadar O'Donnell  each autumn. 

Day Trips

There are a number of worthwhile day trips that can be enjoyed from the holiday home. These include nearby Aranmore Island, the Dunlewey Lakeside Centre, the Fintown Railway, the magnificent Glenveagh National Park and Letterkenny - Donegals main shopping town that also has a multi-screen cinema, theatre, county library and museum and the modern Aura leisure centre. Historic Donegal Town and the famous sea cliffs at Slieve League are just an hours drive from the holiday home.

The holiday home has an open plan design on the ground floor with sea views on 3 sides. A large multifuel stove provides a focal point for the bright living area. The living space is comfortably furnished and features a selection of boad games, a tv with dvd player and a dvd library. Double glass doors lead out to a decking area with wonderful sea views

  Kitchen

The open plan area has a tiled floor and  there is underfloor heating throughout the house. The kitchen area features stylish units and is fully equipped for a self catering holiday. The adjacent dining area has an elegant dining table and 8 chairs

  Bathroom

In addition to an ensuite bedrom the holiday home has a large bathroom with corner bath and wet room shower and also a large wet room shower with toilet and sink on the ground level.

Booking Details

Booking deposit (non-refundable) of euro 300 per week - with balance to be paid six weeks prior to the letting period. For larger groups extra €50 cleaning charge added
