Forest View, a modern 3-bedroom holiday home, overlooks Ards Forest Park and is only a 5 min drive to the popular seaside village of Dunfanaghy. The house is fully equipped to ensure a carefree self-catering holiday experience. The harbour at Portnablagh, Shandon Hotel, Marble Hill beach, and Dunfanaghy Golf Club are all within easy walking distance.

Ideal Base to Explore North West Donegal

The central location of Forest View is ideal, as it offers a huge choice of activities and sites within a short drive, to suit all ages of active or less active minds and moods.

The bustling town of Dunfanaghy, with its many boutique shops, restaurants, and pubs is a 6 min drive, the Blue Flag Marble Hill Beach and Portnablagh Harbour 4 mins and the renowned Ards Forest Park within walking distance, as well as some of the most beautiful scenery and walks in Europe nearby. You will struggle to find a better collection of unspoilt beaches, such as Killyhoey, Tramore, Ards, Downings Back Strand and the Friary anywhere in the world.

Whether you are walking the dogs, building sand castles, surfing, body boarding, fishing, site seeing, horse riding, golfing, cycling or just relaxing, you will not fail to see and experience something different and amazing every day.

Golfers are spoilt for choice with a central location to the challenging Championship Links Courses at Rosapenna (Sandy Hills & Tom Morris), Gweedore, Cloughaneely and Portsalon as well as the local Dunfanaghy GC which all have spectacular scenery and give a challenge to all handicaps.

  • Enjoy hours of family time on the beautiful unspoilt beaches on your doorstep – Killahoey, Tramore, Ards and Marble Hill, finished off with a coffee or ice cream at the Shack
  • Enjoy a spa experience at the Shandon Hotel and get that well-deserved pampering
  • Watch Sky Sports at Arnolds or the Oyster Bar with family and friends in a buzzing atmosphere
  • Food shopping is in Cresslough or Dunfanaghy and definitely experience the market during the summer 
  • Try surfing – there are 2 surf schools based in Dunfanaghy – Jaws Watersports and Narosa Life where you can hire wet suits and surfboards
  • The kids can have great fun sea jumping at Harrys Hole along from Marble Hill beach
  • Have a quiet drink and a game of pool at McCarrys before enjoying the short walk home – 0.5km
  • Play golf at one of the great courses nearby and enjoy the craic and beautiful settings 
  • Take a trip around the spectacular Horn Head drive to experience spectacular scenery
  • Go horse riding from the Dunfanaghy Riding Stables at Arnolds Hotel, where adults and children are ably looked after
  • Visit the enchanting  Ards Forest Park with its miles and miles of forest and beach walks
  • Go crab hunting at Ards Friary when low tide, get lucky and spot the inquisitive seals, with a consolation ice cream and/or coffee if not
  • Climb Muckish and Errigal. Mount Errigal, the highest mountain in Donegal is a demanding climb and once on the summit you can see for 50 miles around
  • Browse the local Art Galleries and Craft Shops
  • Dine at the award-winning Mill Restaurant or enjoy different tastes at Lizzie’s Bistro, Patsy & Dans, The Cove, Starfish, Arnolds, Café Arnou or Molly’s. Eamonn’s taxis can get you home at a reasonable price.
  • Enjoy a coffee at Buttermilk, Portnablagh Harbour. Browse the art gallery and watch the world go by. Pier jumping for the more adventurous or sea angling for the more sedate
  • Visit the Dunfanaghy Workhouse Exhibition & Cafe whilst the kids enjoy the Craft Club and playground
  • Take a short ferry trip to Tory Island, a nature lovers paradise, the lighthouse and the  Eerie Island Tale as well as beautiful scenic views 
  • Visit Glenveagh National Park, with 16,000 hectares of mountains, lakes, wood, and bogs. Glenveagh contains the largest red deer population in Europe. Within the National Park, Glenveagh Castle and gardens are well worth a visit on their own. The scenery is spectacular
  • Go fishing on Lough Sessiagh Lake for brown trout with boats available and bank fishing permitted 
  • Find numerous peaceful roads, country lanes and mountain tracks to walk
