Elthorne House - Ardara

Elthorne House is a four-star self-catering holiday home with an idyllic coastal setting 3km north of the Heritage Town of Ardara. The house is framed by rolling mountains and overlooks long stretches of undisturbed sandy beach along the shore of Derryness Bay, a secluded location sheltered between the arms of Loughrosmore and Rosbeg Bays.  This wonderful setting makes it an ideal place to escape it all.. 

A Four Star Holiday Home

Although newly built with first class facilities Elthorne House exudes old-world charm. This is due in no small part to the lovely stone clad exterior. The holiday home has four bedrooms, including a master bedroom with ensuite bathroom. The beautifully crafted kitchen is fully equipped with cooking facilities, dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, microwave, washer, and tumble dryer. There are two separate living spaces with both enjoying sea views. The house is surrounded by mature gardens which include a number of sun traps featuring cosy garden furniture.

Elthorne House is an ideal base for a relaxing holiday, but it also suitable for more active breaks in the great outdoors.  The landscape around the holiday home is excellent walking and cycling terrain, with something new and exciting to discover around every corner. Loughrosmore Bay itself is becoming increasingly popular with sea kayakers and the superb Narin & Portnoo Golf Club will prove a real challenge to the keen golfer. The nearby Owenea river is a great salmon river and is also excellent for sea trout.

Ardara and South West Donegal

The holiday home is a short drive from the Heritage Town of Ardara. This bustling coastal village offers a well-established programme of events that takes place throughout the year – earning it the title of Festival Capital of Donegal. Visitors can enjoy the many craft and gift shops in Ardara together with a good selection of traditional Irish pubs. Ardara is also famous for its tweed and visitors can learn the complete history and culture of the local tweed production on a tour of the Ardara Heritage Centre.  

The holiday home is an ideal base to tour South West Donegal. Three beautiful Peninsulas are within easy driving distance –Loughros,  Dawros and Slieve League. The Dawros Peninsula to the north has the seaside villages of Narin, Portnoo and Rosbeg .  There are quaint fishing harbours at Portnoo and Rosbeg while Narin has a fabulous Blue Flag beach. The large peninsula to the south of Ardara has the magnificent Slieve League Cliffs and the renowned Gaeltacht centre in Glencolmcille.

The holiday home has a beautifully crafted modern kitchen with fitted units. Appliances available include electric oven and hobs, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and separate freezer. The kitchen also has a dining table and 8 chairs. It opens out to one of the two living areas in the holiday home.

  Living Area

The holiday home has two separate living spaces with both enjoying sea views. The first living space has an open entrance to the kitchen and dining area. It features a stone faced open fireplace with woodburning stove. For home entertainment there is WiFi, flat screen TV, dvd and cd player.

  Living Room

The second living room in the holiday home contains an electric fire, flat screen TV, i-pod docking station and a piano.

Booking deposit (non-refundable) of euro100 per week - with balance to be paid six weeks prior to the letting period.
