  Kitchen

At the heart of the house is the kitchen and the room that is most used. With a dining table, a sofa and a rocking chair, this room you won’t want to leave !!  It has a wooden beamed ceiling, hand painted units and furniture, all of which gives it a lovely country charm. A solid fuel stove which has a back boiler adds to the cosy feeling of the room.

  Living Room

The living room has an open fire and original wooden floors. This is a lovely room for some peace and quiet.

  Bedrooms

All our bedrooms feature 10ft high beamed ceilings and cast iron fireplaces. The fireplaces were found when we removed the walls! With a little love and care we were able to restore them back to their original glory.

  • Bedroom 1: With French toilet wallpaper and deep pile purple carpet this master bedroom has a king size sleigh bed, built in wardrobe and mountain views.  It has an Ensuite with electric shower.
  • Bedroom 2: This bedroom has original wooden floors and is finished in lovely tones of yellow and lemon. With a double bed it is situated at the back of the house and is next door to the upstairs bathroom.
  • Bedroom 3: This Bedroom aas painted original wooden floor boards and beautiful Laura Ashley floral wallpaper.  With the use of floral prints, the hints of green and pink colors this room has a “shabby chic” feel  with the two single cream cast iron style beds finishing of the look. Situated at the front of the house you can enjoy the mountain views from this room.

  Bathroom

Along with the original wooden floor the bathroom also features painted tongue and groove panelling with a beautiful Laura Ashley printed wallpaper.  The main feature point of course is the roll top bath which is ideal for soaking away the stresses of the day! Bath salts provided :)

In addition to the upper floor bathroom a ground floor shower room features a traditional style shower with rain head, a mid level W/C and hand basin by Burlington. This is an elegant room with touches of grey and purple.

What they say

Drumbarron Cottage is a fantastic base to explore this beautiful part of Donegal and enjoy the amenities of Ardara. A stunning cottage, beautifully decorated with authentic period features but with all mod cons. Sonia couldn’t have been more helpful and responded very quickly to all requests. We would highly recommend Drumbarron and be sure to have a Guinness in Nancy’s pub while you’re there!
