Doran Close is located in a peaceful spot close to the centre of the vibrant, family, seaside resort of Bundoran in South Donegal. The beach and golf course are a 10-minute walk, making this spacious, 3 bedroom, holiday home an ideal base for surfing, family holidays or get together. The house has a modern, open plan kitchen with sunroom to the rear.
Bundoran is one of the top surfing resorts in Ireland. Surfers gather here all year round, and the town has hosted European Surfing Championships several times. There are lots of surf schools and places to hire equipment. There’s even a wave named after the town, called the Bundoran Peak. The main surfing beach - Tullan Strand - is just 2 minutes walk from the holiday home.
Bundoran is not just a surfer’s paradise, though. Try some swimming, kayaking or windsurfing. The indoor aqua centre, Waterworld, has fantastic family pools, and it offers therapeutic seaweed baths. There are also some great children's playgrounds along the shorefront. Bundoran Golf Club is just 5 minutes walk from the holiday home and is a wonderfully scenic as well as challenging course.
Bundoran’s also a great base for a trip to the Slieve League sea cliffs on the other side of Donegal Bay - the is one of the Signature Points on the Wild Atlantic Way. Walkers and hikers should head to the Bluestack Mountain northeast of Bundoran for lovely hill walking, among bog and streams. A short drive to the southwest into Sligo will take you to the Dartry Mountains, Leitrim’s Glencar Valley with its waterfall, and the otherworldly wonder of Ben Bulben mountain.
Bundoran is well served with shops, cafes, restaurants and hotels. There is also a great choice of lively pubs. The music scene is big in Bundoran. You will find a wide range of music sessions in the local pubs and hotels to suit all tastes. In the third week of June each year, there is a major music festival with international artists - the Sea Sessions.
Shore fishing is popular in and around Bundoran and charter boats are available for sea angling on Donegal Bay. Inland, there’s good coarse and game fishing in the rivers Drowes and Duff and in Lough Melvin. Licences and permits are available locally.
