Davey Johns Forge Cottage

Affectionately called Davey John's Forge Cottage the cottage has been in my family for 5 generations. Modernised but retaining all the charm of its forge history the house sits at the foot of a hill directly opposite the beautiful Mulroy bay. A wonderful place to relax and enjoy the stunning scenery that Co. Donegal has to offer.

Quirky Features

The cottage has lots of quirky features. The lounge is extremely cosy with a wood-burning stove and sheepskin-adorned leather sofas. For the movie buff we have a huge pull-down cinema screen with HD projector (one of my favourite ways to spend an evening) and access to Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney Plus and 100's of TV stations.

The kitchen was recently modernised. New appliances, underfloor heating, Belfast sink and of course the inbuilt wine cellar :)

Bedrooms

There's a double bed downstairs off the hall with an adjoining kids room where bunk beds are a firm favourite. If you need somewhere to work during your stay there's a bureau in this room that you can pop a laptop on and connect to a widescreen monitor.

Upstairs we have the attic room with beautiful sloped ceilings and a lovely view of the bay. Guests should be aware that the entry to this room is rather low (approx 5 foot high). I'm 6 foot 1 myself and it doesn't put me off staying in this room any chance I get but if you are mobility impaired it's something to bear in mind.

At night time just close the shutters and turn on the low-level lanterns to set the mood for a beautiful night in.

Relax in the Hot Tub

The recently installed Hot Tub in the garden was an instant hit. Perfect for all the family the tub is always on and serviced regularly meaning it will be waiting for you to enjoy the moment you arrive.

There are plenty of beauty spots to enjoy around the cottage. One of my favourites is coffee by the bay in the morning.

We have Plenty of parking next to the cottage. Carrigart town is less than 4 mins away with Downings beach and the Atlantic drive only another 5 mins.

To Do and See

If you feel like doing some shopping Letterkenny city is 20 mins away but you'll probably be too tired for that after climbing Mount Errigal (30 mins away), and checking out the beautiful art and craft shops in Dunfanaghy (25 mins) or exploring Ards Friary (30 mins) or marvelling at the gardens in Glenveagh Castle (30 mins).
