Coney cottage is a lovely homely four bedroom cottage able to sleep up to twelve. It has a lounge with an open, stone built fireplace, a dining area, fully fitted kitchen, utility room, and a games room. The main bathroom is upstairs, while there is a downstairs shower room next to the utility area.
There is plenty to keep one occupied and entertained, with board games and books, a TV with DVD, Video, SKY reception, and an upstairs pool table.
The cottage is in the Dunross estate, and forms a semi-circle with the other cottages around a green. There are trees, and the front has a wall separating it from the road, giving it an ambience of quiet and peaceful seclusion.
The centre of Culdaff The Village Green is a five minute walk, and on the way you will pass McGrorys, perhaps the main attraction in the village. Here you will find a small hotel, a fine restaurant and two pubs, - The Front Bar, noted for its fine selection of food , drink and traditional Irish Music, and the Backroom Bar, which is really more of a function room, famous throughout Ireland and beyond for its range and quality of music and entertainment.
Culdaff Beach is a lovely stretch of golden sand, with the north Atlantic lapping gently, or crashing heavily depending on weather and tides. Surfers will keep a close eye on conditions to make the most of the waves. The beach has Blue flag status, and is very popular in summer. See bottom picture.
A well equipped playground near the car park ensures that children are able to be happily occupied for many hours in relative safety. The popular Caratra pub and restaurant is situated across the road from the beach car park.
On the opposite end, or west side of the beach is the picturesque little fishing harbour protected by a sea wall known as Bunagee Pier. Many anglers will find this a popular spot to fish from.
Other water sports include swimming, sub-aqua diving, surfing and sailing. For those who prefer not to swim in the sea, there is a public swimming pool in nearby Redcastle.
Non water activities in the area can be as diversified as tennis, paint-balling, football, hill walking, horse riding, and golf...to mention a few.
Golfers are well catered for, with the magnificent two links courses at Ballyliffin, and other courses at Buncrana, Greencastle, Redcastle and Culmore in Derry. - all within a half hour drive.
On the way to Ballyliffin, and just before the golf course, a turn off to the Isle of Doagh, will take one to the Famine Village. It is an outdoor museum that tells the story of life in the area from the Famine back in the 1840s, to the present day. Different to any other tourist attraction in Ireland the Famine Village depicts life in Ireland as it was, with models and displays of structures and scenes representing the time.
Each year, as the festive period approaches, the Famine Village is transformed into Donegals very own Lapland, SANTAS ISLAND.
Both children and adults alike can enjoy and participate in the magic of this enchanting, festive experience.
