Located on the shores of Traigheanna Bay, 5miles from the busy town of Dungloe, capital of The Rosses, midway along Donegal’s western seaboard and right on the Wild Atlantic Way, this lovingly restored cottage boasts sea views all around. In the idyllic townland of Marameelan, a short stroll from the beach, you feel like you are a million miles from the hustle and bustle of life and yet in one of the most convenient locations to visit a county as big as Donegal, from Fanad Head or Glenveagh National Park in the north to Slieve League or the port of Killybegs in the south. Most of the county can be reached in about 1 hour, leaving more time to explore and less time getting there.
Learn about the role of the Donegal chieftains of yesteryear in Doe Castle or Donegal Castle or visit the Dungloe monument to the Donegal men- Tunnel Tigers- who gave their lives building transport networks around the world.
And yet you may not wish to travel since the Rosses, famed for its many lakes, rivers and magnificent coastline, provides excellent fishing and organised water-based activities/classes, as well as a selection of golf courses within easy reach. The choice of beaches in Donegal is endless (many Blue Flag), and you can begin almost at your front door in this cosy cottage, and if you should run out of beaches, you have the many islands – Arranmore, Gola, Tory and Bofin - just offshore with easy access.
In an area that’s home to Daniel O’Donnell, Clannad & Enya, there’s no shortage of lively entertainment in summer, thanks to the many pubs and venues. The county is also famous for its traditions and crafts, much of which can be seen in the Heritage town of Ardara, or you may just fancy a relaxing day of retail therapy, moving from Dungloe to the retail capital of Letterkenny or the famous McElhinneys in Ballybofey, no more than a 40-minute drive from Dungloe.

For the past few days we have experienced the beauty of Marameelan and the comfort and excellent decor and cleanliness of Cois Farraige....Breakfast overlooking Traigheanna Bay and the mountains beyond: when the tide is out watching the oyster farmers at work...Relaxing, reading, playing scrabble in front of a cosy turf burning stove. Comfortable bed, excellent pillows...Cycled to Falcorrib Pier every morning...exhilarating standing looking out over the wild Atlantic - awesome. Our host, Marlene, welcoming, helpful, plenty information, thoughtful touches in the cottage...fresh flowers, beautiful candles, bottle of wine. We would highly recomment Cois Farraige, situated right on the Atlantic, so much beauty to experience...a hidden gem.
