Cluain Mor House - Portsalon

Cluain Mor House is a 5 bedroom house with a wonderful location in the popular family seaside resort of Portsalon on the Fanad Peninsula in North Donegal. The holiday home is literally across the road from Portsalon Golf Club and Blue Flag beach and just a few minutes walk from the quaint harbour.

Portsalon Blue Flag Beach on your Doorstep

Portsalon Beach is generally regarded as one of the finest beaches in Ireland. It stretches all the way from the harbour to the foot of Knockalla Mountain.  It is popular with swimmers, kayakers, wind surfers and is perfect for walking. Surfing takes place at the Knockalla end. At the harbour end there is a sheltered sandy cove overlooked by the renowned Sarah's bar and restaurant. Also at the harbour is a water sports centre with everything from buckets and spades to kayak hire.

Portsalon Golf Club - A Hidden Gem

The holiday home is ideally situated for the keen golfer. The clubhouse of Portsalon Golf Club is literally a 2 minute walk from the front door. This superb 18 hole links course remains one of Irish golf’s best kept secrets. Not only is Portsalon a magnificent test of golf, its setting is truly breathtaking. The golden sands along Ballymastocker Bay and the majesty of Lough Swilly and the Inishowen Hills beyond provide the backdrop for almost 7000 yards that will enthrall and challenge any golfer. 

The Fanad Peninsula

Portsalon itself is centrally situated on the Fanad Peninsula making it an ideal base to explore this beautiful part of Ireland. It also lies along the route of the Wild Atlantic Way - Irelands long distance driving route. The iconic Fanad Head Lighthouse is a Signature Point on this route and is just over 11km from the holiday home.

• Take a trip along the spectacular Knockalla Coast Road
• Golf at Portsalon Golf Club – a classic 18 hole links course (2 min walk)
• Enjoy beautiful unspoilt beaches in the locality  –  In addition to Portsalon there are fine beaches at   Ballyhiernan, Ballywhoriskey,  Sessiagh and Rathmullan
• Hire kayaks or pedal boats from the water sports centre at Portsalon harbour
• Enjoy the facilities at the Rockhill Holiday Park in nearby Kerrykeel - climbing walls, water walkers, slides, rodeo bull, bungee trampolines, indoor cars, soft play areas and loads of bouncy castles.
• Try surfing at the nearby Adventure One Surf School in Ballyheirnan Bay
• Go deep sea fishing or sight seeing on Lough Swilly - charter boats are available at Portsalon and Rathmullan
• Go fly fishing at the Meadows fishery in nearby Rosnakill
• Use the new Mulroy Bridge to golf at Rosapenna or take a trip around the Atlantic Drive
• Visit Glenveagh National Park, with 16,000 hectares of mountains, lakes, wood and bogs.
• Find numerous peaceful roads, country lanes and mountain tracks to walk.

There are a number of different living spaces in the holiday home. There is a large open plan area on the ground floor with living, kitchen and dining spaces. The living area has an open fireplace and enjoys sea views. For home entertainment there is a tv and dv player.

  Secondary Living Room

The secondary living room has open fire and full glass sliding doors with access to the front of the property and views of the beach and golf course.

  Sun Room

Another living space is provided by the sun room. It is tastefully furnished and enjoys sea views. Glass patio doors lead out to the side of the property.

  Kitchen and Dining Area

The holiday home has a bright modern kitchen with dining area. Appliances available include cooker, fridge freezer, dishwasher and microwave. There is a dining table with 6 chairs. A separate utility room features a washing machine, tumble drier and sink. There is a large mobile clothes line outside 

  Bedrooms

Accommodation in the holiday home is as follows;-

• Bedroom 1: Master bedroom, King size bed includes en-suite with bath on the ground floor 
• Bedroom 2: 1 Double and 2 single beds - ground floor
• Bedroom 3: Double bed with sea views
• Bedroom 4: Double Bed with mountain views
• Bedroom 5: Double/single bunk bed with sea views

There is a shower room on the ground floor and a shower room on the first floor

Booking Details

Booking deposit (non-refundable) of euro200 per week - with balance to be paid six weeks prior to the letting period.  there is alos a € 200 security deposit which is refundable
