Atlantic View Lodge, Fanad Head

Atlantic View Lodge is a beautiful self-catering establishment which consists of the entire ground floor of a modern house. As the name suggests, this holiday rental accommodation is located in a coastal setting overlooking the ocean. The coastal setting in question is the spectacular Fanad Head in North Donegal - and the view is the Atlantic Ocean.

Tranquil Coastal Setting

Atlantic View Lodge is ideal for 2 or 4 people. It has 2 double bedrooms - one with ocean views. There is a bright open plan area with kitchen, dining and living spaces. This area enjoys coastal and ocean views. There is a separate utility area and a bathroom with bathtub and shower combo. There is a paved area right around the house and a small lawn to the front.

A Relaxing Getaway

Atlantic View Lodge is located near the end of a narrow winding road that leads down to a rocky shore that faces the sea. A seal colony are frequent visitors to the rocks just offshore. The northern Fanad coastline surrounding the holiday home has numerous fine beaches and sandy coves. Just over 4km from the front door is the iconic Fanad Head Lighthouse - A Signature Point along Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way

Wild Atlantic Way

This setting makes Atlantic View Lodge an ideal base for a relaxing holiday in tranquil surroundings – perfect for the keen walker, photographer, artist or angler. The holiday home also provides a relaxing base for those who wish to explore the Wild Atlantic Way in North Donegal.

Fanad Lighthouse

Fanad Lighthouse is one of Ireland's great lighthouses. It has been beautifully restored and is now open to the public as a visitor centre during the holiday season. There are regular guided tours of the lighthouse each day. The tour enables the visitor to take a step back in time and hear stories about light-keepers in days gone by. There is also a climb to the top of the tower for spectacular views of land and sea

Local Amenities

Although set in a tranquil rural location there are a number of tourist amentites close at hand. A Post Office and Shop are 1.5km away and a second shop - McAteer's of Shannagh - is less than 2km away. This shop is a real throwback in time where literally anything from a needle to an anchor can be bought. The Lighthouse Tavern is  3km away - it serves bar food and has regular music sessions. Also 3km away is the Fanad Lodge which also serves food.

Surfing and Golf

There is a Surf School based at Ballyhiernan Beach with regular surf camps during the summer months. Close by the beach is a pitch and putt course.

The fabulous blue flag beach and golf course at Portsalon is just 9km away. The Harry Blaney Bridge over Mulroy Bay means the two holiday resorts of Carrigart and Downings are a 20 minute drive. Near Downings is the fabulous Rosapenna Golf Resort.
