Rainbow House, Linsfort - Buncrana

Sea ViewsOpen FireCot & Highchair

Rainbow House is a modern 4 bedroom holiday home located 5km north of Buncrana on the beautiful Inishowen Peninsula. From its elevated site the holiday home enjoys panoramic views over Lough Swilly towards the hills of the Fanad Peninsula and the Donegal Highlands beyond.

Almost all rooms enjoy views of the scenery outside - a landscape that changes mood daily with the ever changing sky. Sunsets are spectacular as are the frequent rainbows – hence the name of the house.

The holiday home is set on a 1-acre site. It is bright, spacious and modern. All the bedrooms, the living room and dining area enjoy lovely views of Lough Swilly – The Lake of Shadows.  Panoramic sea and mountain views can be enjoyed from the decking area.

Along the shores of Lough Swilly

There are numerous tourist amenities along the shores of Lough Swilly in front of the holiday home – from Inch Island to the dramatic Fort Dunree.   At Inch Island, there is a lovely nature and wild fowl reserve. Fahan has a beautiful marina and a sailing school. At Lisfannon there is a fine 18 hole links golf course and a blue flag beach.

Buncrana has all the amenities of a large town – shops, pubs, hotels, cinema, craft shops, cafes and restaurants. It also has a 9 hole golf club, sandy beaches, a pier and shorefront children's playground.

North of Buncrana there is a lovely coastal footpath passing several sandy beaches and an old military fort at Neds Point.  Fort Dunree is less than 8km from the holiday home. In addition to a fine military museum, it has nature walks in a truly dramatic setting.

Walking

In addition to short walks at the Inch Island Wildfowl reserve, Buncrana Swan Park and coastal path and the Fort Dunree Trails there are numerous opportunities for walks in the beautiful Urris Hills. A very popular walk is to ascend the dramatic Gap of Mamore – the views at the top are truly spectacular

Wild Atlantic Way.

Irelands Wild Atlantic Way hugs the coastline of the Inishowen Peninsula and the visitor can use this route to explore this beautiful part of Ireland.  Some top attractions along this route include the Glenevin Waterfall, Ballyliffin Golf Club, The Famine Village on the Isle of Doagh and Malin Head.  During the summer months, a ferry operates between Buncrana and Rathmullan enabling the visitor to explore the ruggedly beautiful Fanad Peninsula.

The Historic Walled City of Derry

Derry is just over 20km from the holiday home. It is a city steeped in history, both old and modern. The area traces its roots back to the 6th century. By the 17th century, there was a proper city, entirely contained within walls which are still intact. In fact, Derry is the only completely intact walled city in Ireland or the UK today

When in Derry, a tour of the historic walls is highly recommended. The Tower Museum is located within Derry's historic walls and is one of the best places to learn more about rich heritage of the city. The 2 main exhibitions in the museum tell the story of Derry and the story of La Trinidad Valencera.  Other highlights in the city are the Guildhall, St Columb’s Cathedral,  the iconic Peace Bridge and Ebrington Square.

Ideal Holiday Base

Rainbow House is an ideal holiday base for families, for groups exploring the outdoors and for retreats.
