Located in the townland of Keenagh, Forget-me-not is a spacious, 5 bedroom holiday home which would make an ideal base for a self catering holiday in this beautiful part of north Donegal. The house, which is a newly built property, being rented for the first year in 2010 is accessed by a private laneway and overlooks the surrounding landscape and a small river which flows onwards towards the Atlantic Ocean.
There is a large garden to the side and ample space for children to play. The interior is decorated in neutral shades while the full-height entrance hallway makes a dramatic statement. The upper floor, king size bedrooms are both ensuite and have walk-in wardrobes. A 5 min drive by car takes you to the small harbour and beach at Malin Head.
Malin Head, the most northerly point in Ireland, is marked by an old signal tower on top of a hill known as Banba's Crown. From here, probably the best views are looking south at the magnificent vista provided by the Inishowen Hills; though on a clear day, one can see as far as the Scottish Hebrides to the east and Tory Island to the west.
Forget-me-not is close to Rose Cottage Riding School one of the best equestrian centres in the northwest. Riders coming for Group lessons are carefully assessed before being allocated a horse suitable for them and they will be encouraged to develop their riding skills within their allocated group by developing their skills with others. The beaches of Trawbreaga Bay are only a few minutes away, offering as they do, exhilarating opportunities for cantering on sand and in the shallows.
A 5 min drive will take you to the Seaview Tavern, a local pub/restaurant with views overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. A variety of restaurants and pubs may be experienced within a fifteen to twenty minute drive. Try the options of the Malin Hotel in Malin Town (not Malin Head), or the well known establishment in Culdaff called McGrory's - Carndonagh and Ballyliffin should also be mentioned.
Near Ballyliffin (and the golf course) on the beautiful Isle of Doagh, a visit to the Isle Of Doagh Visitor Centre is to be recommended. This unique outdoor museum tells the story of life in this area going back to the Great Famine in the 1840's. A Famine Village and typical dwellings such as Sod or Turf houses from those times can be seen here. The Irish Famine was at its worst between 1845 to 1848 causing the population to drop from 8 to 4 million through death and emigration.
For those wishing to include a tour of Northern Ireland's Causeway Coast, a 35km drive will take you to Greencastle where a ferry connects to Magilligan across Lough Foyle. The onward journey to 3 of Northern Ireland's most popular tourist attractions, the Giant's Causeway, Bushmills Distillery and the Carrick-a-reed rope bridge is a mere 30km
The kitchen is located to the rear of the house and is fully equipped to ensure you have a memorable self catering holiday.
Located to the front of the house and with lovely views over the surrounding rural landscape the living room features an open fireplace, leather furniture and solid wood flooring. The tv has satellite reception for a wide choice of viewing - in addition there is a dvd player.
The entrance hallway is full height and the wooden staircase leads to an upper floor gallery. The two upper floor, ensuite bedrooms are located either side of this gallery.
Ground floor (2 bedrooms)
Upper floor (2 bedrooms)
For children a cot, highchair and fire safety surrounds can be supplied
The main bathroom is located on the ground floor adjacent to the 2 single bedrooms. Three of the five bedrooms are ensuite
